MacDonald Campground

Especially if you have a boat, this is a superb little campground, a notch higher than even Strawberry Flats a few miles down the Alaska Highway. There is a boat launch, and most of the 15 large and level sites are right on Muncho Lake so you can park your boat a few feet from your picnic table and RV. The cost per night in 2017 was $20. The fine-gravel beach offers great walking.

This was the best campsite of our entire 5700 mile trip. The sites are fairly private with a good amount of vegetation separating you from your neighbors. Some of the sites can be a little exposed in windy weather because they are right on the lake. The scenery is amazing. There are pit toilets and trash dumpsters. Keep an eye out for sheep
