The terminal itself is fine. Next to the terminal there is also a good stretch of sandy beach with metal fire rings. Free parking at beach access just before the terminal.
Lots of parking, easy pick up points. Nice sandy beach area. This is our brand new Natural Gas ferry. Looks small, but 2 deck parking. Bring your sun tan lotion for outside sun bathing on your crossing. Enjoy. Picnic spot on each nearby, nice place for a stroll also
Small ferry terminal. Friendly operators. Washroom and vending machines. Not much else unless you count the beach and gorgeous oceanside view of the brooding mountains marching up the distant Sunshine Coast.
Always helpful and informative. Staff is friendly. Beautiful ride across to the island. Safety is their standard.
What awesome energy to roll up to! We got here on a Sunday morning headed for Powell River and were expecting the same old same old BC Ferries service. Sean greeted us with a huge smile and great vibes, and had us laughing the whole time. He seemed to really love life and his job, and he really brightened our day!
For it's size and the amount of time you want between boats you would think there would be some better amenities. This is the worst equipped terminal if it's size in the province. It does have a bathroom and waiting room but that's pretty much it. No place to grab a coffee or sandwich, quite exposed so you are riding out whatever weather is happening in your car potentially for up to 2 hours. Staff are nice though
Friendly staff and efficiently run. They did a brilliant job of "racking & stacking" all the vehicles.
A fine and functional ferry terminal. Pro tip - bring coffee and snacks before you buy your ticket. Services are limited to 2 vending machines and you'll end up paying $7 for a bottle of cold coffee. Can't beat the view though
I had a reservation and arrived just over 40 min before the sailing. It was a busy Friday and the line up for the ticket booth was long. I was worried about missing the 30 min deadline for keeping my reservation so walked towards the ticket booth. I read a sign that said reservations and motorcycles stay in the lineup. Nervously I went back to my truck and observed some cars, a motor home and motorcycles going around the line. I reassured myself that I was doing the right thing by following the instructions and staying in the lineup. Finally a BC ferries worker approached my truck and said I missed the ferry and had to wait hours until the next one. I told her that I have a reservation and she stated that I didn't arrive on time. I told her I could prove my arrival time with my GPS. She said she looked down the long line and didn't see us there and said we were lying.i went to show her the GPS and she radioed the ship and told them to stop loading as she had a truck with a reservation that said we were on time. She was extremely rude the whole time but directed us to the ticket booth. The whole time we were getting our tickets we could hear someone ranting on the radio that we should be told to arrive on time. I again explained that we were on time and were following the instructions. This ferry worker actually turned her back to us and said she didn't want to hear it. I am posting this so no one else goes through this unnecessary stress and humiliation. DO NOT follow the sign instructions if it is busy. Make your presence known walk to the ticket booth and interrupt. The ferry workers do NOT walk down the line. If you see one in the distance honk to get their attention. I take BC ferries often and for the most part am impressed by the staff. We got on the ferry and had a great time on the sunshine coast but have learned to be more assertive.
Another poor review for the blonde ticket booth attendant. I was taken aback by the negative attitude and the rudeness I was recieved with. To said attendant: I am aware that by the time I finally made it to the front of the ticket booth line that it was 2 minutes past my reservation time, but there was no need to rudely point out the tardiness. I am also aware that BC ferries would like to collect any reservation information which was why I brought it up. To BC Ferries: there have been multiple complaints to a similarly described ticket booth attendant. It's time you did your due diligence and refreshed her customer service training. She made what was supposed to be a pleasant trip very unpleasant. I couldn't help but think "Are other staff going to treat me with disdain?"
