I was looking for a quick bite and decided to give a better look at there menu. I always thought it was just Lobster etc. I grabbed a sautéed mushroom wrap. Pretty good. These huge long veg bites.. was different. Sauce was great. For the price you can't go wrong.
Ordered a roasted chicken roll. The wrapper was not a flakey Crispy green scallion wrap but it was a flour tortilla that was pan-fried with egg and green onion. The chicken in the wrap contained small pieces of chicken bones. Total disappointment and false advertisement. Soggy mess!
This place has generated a lot of hype, as famous Taiwanese singer Jay Chou is an investor and brand ambassador. It's located in Aberdeen Mall food court upstairs side note: parkade in this mall is a nightmare. My order: Spicy Duo Sirloin Beef & Crayfish Roll $19.99: I really liked the sauce flavour, and it was the perfect amount of spiciness for me. The beef slices were very tender my fave part was the sirloin beef, so I'd recommend just getting that by itself instead which is $11.95, as the crayfish was good, but doesn't add a lot to the roll overall. There's also a single layer of lettuce lining the rolls. It is quite greasy though, and the green onion crepe isn't crispy as the name suggests - but it is still tasty. I'd recommend eating it right away while it is hot, and not for take out. Taiwanese Sausage Roll $8.95: Filled with egg, sweet & savoury Taiwanese sausage, single layer of lettuce green pepper and onion. Overall: flavours are great, but it is a bit on the pricier end for the portions. I'd recommend it as a snack, not a full filling meal.
I think they need to redo their menu so people are not shocked by the lobster plus caviar item in a very ordinary food court. Maybe in a fancy food court. I got the crayfish roll. It was decent, but not filling enough. This will fill you up as much as a six inch sub at subway. I love the concept of this wrap though
I ordered Peking duck roll. The ingredients were very tasty - very fresh lettuce and green pepper with the meat and sauce. But don’t expect this as a regular lunch size.
The Taiwanese sausage crispy roll was quite satisfying. The vibes I got eating it was similar to that of eating a big mac. This is like Asian big mac like food only it's sausage wrapped in a croissant like wrap and drizzled with honey Mustard and topped with lettuce.
While it was delicious and different from the other food you can get in the food court, it’s pretty expensive for what it is. Definitely more of a snack than a meal, which is difficult to justify the pricing. We didn’t get the most expensive choice, which was a very expensive lobster roll with a $25 caviar option. With so many yummier and more reasonably priced places in the food court, I’d try once.
Listen. Trust me when I tell you the lobster wrap is not worth 16.95. I don’t know if they use imitation crab meat but it was very fake and lacking. I would not order it again. Good for a one time try but not good enough to make me come back for another. I may try the duck wrap but it’s not something that I would go out of my way to try. Live in Vancouver but commuted to Richmond just for this. My mom makes better green onion pancakes I might just make this at home with lobster tail. I still don’t understand the imitation crab bits. I mean it’s 16.95!!!
Came on the 2nd day of opening to try Liang Crispy Rolls at the Aberdeen food court. Upon arrival there's a big cardboard cutout of Liang's brand ambassador Jay Chou. If Jay's says its good then it must be good? Took a couple of photos with the cutout before proceeding to order, after all who can resist Jay Chou? They have a QR code which you can order from. We tried using it, though not all of the website was in English which made it a little bit harder to order from so we just decided to order from the waitress there. Theres a handful of options to choose from see attached menu but we decided on two; lobster roll and teppan grilled squid roll. Had to wait about 25 mins for the rolls there were about 13 orders ahead of us but no worries, that just gave me more time to take photos of Jay. The lobster roll came with lobster strands mixed in with corn, lettuce and possibly mayo? sauce amongst other things. Truth be told, I couldn't really taste much lobster and I didn't find this particular roll that special $16.95. I was hoping for the ooh la la lobster roll moment but unfortunately it just wasn't there. 3.5 stars for that one. On the other hand, I enjoyed the Tappan grill squid roll. It had a generous helping of grilled squid mixed with Taiwanese spices and had bonus steamed? egg inside. It's a little spicy so make sure your taste buds are ok with that. 4.5 stars for that roll. The only downside to the experience is that these rolls have to be eaten in store or at the food court as once you bring the rolls home they become a little soggy due to the steam forming in the box. All in all it was a good experience and I'll be back to try the sausage roll. The combos look good too. Did I mention you can also take a photo of cutout Jay Chou?
Good food, like ordering Chinese tacos made of scallion pancakes and fillings with peking duck, lobster, Taiwan sausage, Taiwan grilled squid. However, the prices are higher than expected, so cost/benefit not so good.
