I was hesitant to try this place given all the negative reviews. I saw that they still have the buy one get one free congee promotion on the window, so I gave it a try. I have been back twice in a week. The portions were large. The congee was hot, steamy, and flavourful. I am not a fan of chicken, but loved the chicken congee. They use chicken thigh so it’s a lot more tender and meaty. Their bogo promo was for pork or chicken congee, and we were able to get one of each. The rice rolls and lo mein were both also pretty good! They came out hot and fresh. The only down side of this place is the one-time use containers. I asked for pepper for my congee, which also came in little container. Hope they make a more sustainable choice in the future!
During grand opening, when you purchase $20 before tax, you get a free congee limited selection, ask sever for details. Service is very attentive and sever will actually how you think about the food. Everything come out hot. The congee portion is good and with decent amount of ingredients. The rice roll is on the think side, but still nicely cooked. We ordered deep fried dough as well. Not bad. The worst was the chicken feet. The seasoning is not what we expect. They use one time use containers to serve even you dine in. Mush create a lot of waste : not environmental friendly.
Passed by and decided to try on a Friday night. I know they just opened, but man, are they ever disorganized. They only have one lady working, and some other dude just standing around. Between the yelling from the waitress and the kitchen to figure out orders and customers asking where their orders are, we probably waited close to an hour to get our orderwe canceled one of the rice rolls cuz we didn't want wait. The congee had a special, buy one get 1 free, and it was decent. The beef brisket lol mein was good, but the brisket and the sauce it was soaked in was wayyy to salty. The curry fishball was a bit cold. The rice roll is ok. I could have driven to yinji ate and gone home in the same amount of time that it took me to get the food here
This place is amazing. Other than rice roll and congee, their beef brisket is great too! Worth a try. The only downside is they only serve with disposable containers.
Food took a long time to arrive. Restaurant only has 1 cook, and 1 server/receptionist. Took at least 20 min for food to arrive with only 3 family inside eating. The cheung fun were swimming in soy sauce. The juk was pretty good. Inexpensive. Took very long for it to arrive, but you can tell it was freshly made and pretty good. With the buy 1 get 1 free juk, this was a steal. Because of this, I'm only giving 3 stars. Parking: Lots of parking. Underground parking, and shaded parking beside the restaurant.
Congee, noodles and rice roll restaurant. Opening special: BOGO congee on B02 beef/ B03 chicken/ B11 pork slices. Can mix and match. Spacious and clean environment. They use disposable bowls, cups and utensils. Server was nice enough to let us still order and dine in at 8:30pm when that's their last call time as they close at 9pm. Restaurant still has previous restaurant's wall decals. They were still training new staff. Similar menu to Yin Ji. There is also another congee competitor in the same plaza. Some interesting items include truffle rice roll, marinated pork/ BBQ pork/ duck rice roll, taro snail meat congee, satay beef vermicelli and crispy shrimp roll. Very generous with the ingredients in the congee and rice rolls. I'll definitely return again.
Solid place to go for cheap comfort food. Menu is basic, portions are large and priced very competitively when compared to Mill Stone just up the parking lot, or Markham staple, Sams Congee on woodbine. I stick with the rice rolls, congee, and fish skin. I've tried the lo mein before and its nothing special; i'd rather go to big trio at Leslie if i wanted to eat noodles, but the pricepoint here is lower. Service is good and they serve most food in take out containers which makes it easy to take away at the end of the meal, but also isnt eco-friendly.
Great tasting congee and food. Does take a while to come but it is great value. Some of the congee is BOGO which makes it a great deal. The fried noodles had a very generous portion which was great. Have been back a few times now.
If you want a guaranteed table every time you wanted congee, this is not a bad place to have decent congee and rice noodle rol! Priced fairly, you get a big bowl of congee to warm up your body. Their rice noodle roll is chewy and thin, with a fair amount of ingredients inside. Their lo mein portion is OVERLOADED! It's filled to the brink of the container and then some... The noodles is crispy with enough soy sauce to give the taste and colour to its signature look. Will definitely come back for sure :
The rice roll is really transitional, thin, tender and smooth like silk.Food: 4/5
