We went on a Sunday evening, the restaurant was busy but not noisy at all. The waiter who served us was just amazing, she was kind, polite, but the people who served the water were unpleasant, as well as all the other staff. We ordered crab cake very good, foie grasgood, fillet mignon it was OK, the amount of sauce was very small, and the sauce would have made the dish, also the fillet mignon was cold, for the price we paid that was definitely not what we were expecting. The deserts were not the best we ever had, the crème Brûlée was just OK and French Toast it was extremely sweet.nI know it is not the restaurant's fault if the people that go to this place are extremely racist, but most of their staff members are clearly behaving in a racist way too, once again our waiter saved the day, she was amazing. This was a very unique experience for me in Montreal. I have never been to a restaurant in Montreal an amazing eclectic and multicultural city and felt so much racism. If you are a person of color this is definitely not the best place for you to be, their customers didn't stop staring at us and talking, observing our every move, really weird. I spent a lot of money for such an unpleasant experience. Never again ! The restaurant should train better their staff, this way they can maybe be able to disguise their disgusted faces while looking to a person of color.
On one of the warmer evenings in Montreal, their AC is not keeping up. I was sweating a lot by the end of the meal. Our waitress was super nice, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and wines. I was impressed. My special Flank Steak with wild mushrooms, zucchini and a shrimp sauce was a total delight. Flavors just burst in my mouth, albeit a tad over salted. One of my companions also commented on the over salting of his cod.nnThe French Toast dessert was huge. Alas, way over sweet and nothing to write home about. Didn’t say it was super sweet?
Such a lovely spot! The food was delicious, the heated terrace so cozy, the menu strikes a perfect balance, refined, and full of dishes that let quality ingredients shine. Big thanks to our sweet server who brought a blanket when he saw I was cold, very thoughtful !
Parisian bistro vibes but with Montreal warmth.nnAlmost skipped it. Two nights of French in a row felt like enough, but one of our hotel staff highly recommended this place. Even at a weekday lunch, the place was completely packed, but we managed to slip into a cozy table in the back.nnMost of the dishes we got were excellent, and some of the dishes were a modern take on a classic French bistro food. Some of my favorites were the the duck foie gras and salmon pot-au-peu.nnEscargots – Instead of the expected cast-iron tray with bubbling parsley butter, these came in a ratatouille-like form, finished with a herby basil sauce. Didn’t get to fully enjoy the texture of the escargots, but I liked the texture overlay with portobello mushrooms.nnDuck Foie Gras – Textbook execution. Would be a crime not to order this at a bistro. Impeccably toasted baguettes, creamy foie gras, and apricot compote. Classic trifecta that works every time.nnMussels & Fries – Fries were a dud, but the mussels were excellent. Less about broth, more about the punch of fresh tomato and herbs. The herbal finish was surprisingly assertive, but not overbearing.nnTruffle Oil Salmon Tartare – Fatty salmon with just a faint whisper of truffle. Satisfying, but the idea of offering it in both appetizer and entrée size felt like padding the menu. Fries on the side instead of greens might’ve made it make sense.nnHomemade Blood Pudding – Most French boudins I’ve had leaned firm or even crisped, but this one actually embraced its pudding name. Soft, almost cake-like, topped with peach compote and sweet cider sauce. Straddled savory and dessert in a way that made me stop and think.nn‘Fleur de Sel’ Salmon Pot-au-Feu – Always thought cooking salmon in steam/water drains its flavors too much, but this completely changed my perception. Essentially salmon simmered with root vegetables but pulled off beautifully. The fish stayed tender and jiggly, the broth clean but rich with salmon essence. Even with a bunch of root vegetables like Brussel sprouts, carrots, radishes, and potatoes, the broth didn’t have much earthy heaviness maybe just a hint of leafiness from the sprouts.
Decent food overall.nnHanger steak was quite disappointing.nDuck confit was a bit above average.nWild mushroom risotto was okay.nCod was good sized and tasty.
