Leméac

Story

Since 2001, you can enjoy at Leméac a taste of classic French cuisine. Our bistrot specializes in traditional fare like steak frites, short rib, home-style blood pudding and cabillaud. The menu also offers an elaborate wine list, a selection of Quebec cheeses and a variety of homemade desserts.

This was a highly recommend spot in the area and it was definitely worth the try. We started off with sharing appetizers and i tried the minestrone soupe. It was all very fresh, great taste and perfect portions. For the mains we had the duck confit and tartare which were great as well. For dessert, we had to try the pain perdu. Honestly it was to die for. Up there as one of the best desserts i ever had.nnWe ordered white wine and had to send it back. They don't seem to sell wine at a cool temperature which we didn't appreciate as much.nnOverall experience was ok, not sure if i would give it a second try.
What a wonderful little gem. We went for brunch on a double date with our friends and everyone was thrilled with their meals.nnTwo of us had the poached egg on blinis, which tasted like a cloud of bliss — the flavours were beautifully balanced and paired perfectly. My husband chose the potato leek tartelette and it was absolutely fantastic as well. Another at our table enjoyed the omelette with salad, which she says is her go-to here.nnThe side of mushrooms was an absolute must, rich and savoury, and I could have eaten the entire plate myself. And the beignets for dessert were outstanding — warm, fluffy, and incredibly fresh.nnA truly wonderful experience from start to finish. Would absolutely return.nnThe service was very pleasant. The restaurant is on the louder side but it didn’t bother us. We sat on the heated patio side mid October. Was very warm and pleasant.
Food:nnComplimentary bread and butter. Appreciated, butter just ok.nnCrab cake was good, real crab and not a lot of filler but would not get it again. Not worth the price.nnProbably one of the best steaks I had in my life. Although I wish the sides had a bit of a mix of salad and fries versus a whole plate of fries. I’d come back just for the steak itself. It was perfectly cooked and melt in the mouth. Fries were regular typical fries that come with steak. Nothing spectacular.nnDuck confit was good, crispy skin, and usual fall off the bone. I enjoyed every bite. The few potato wedges that accompanied it were just ok, somewhat under seasoned which was a bit disappointing. Salad was also just ok. Underwhelming vinaigrette and not a lot of flavour overall. Probably to balance the richness of the duck but still. It felt like three completely different elements just dumped together on a plate.nnNo house wine, all imported with a huge selection.nnFizzy water bottle at $7.50 + tx. Just stick to flat water. Appreciate the offer of lemon slices.nnAtmosphere:nWe found it interesting how most people were quite older as in senior age. Honestly felt it was more “fancy” than needed and we were underdressed compared to some. It remains a bistro. Tables are quite close together in typical bistro fashion, but it makes it hard to hear each other as a couple nor does it make for a nice romantic dinner.nnService:nServer was friendly enough and kept our water glasses fill. Very professional.nnValue:nGood value for money overall still and we’d come again for the steak or maybe brunch next time.
Leméac is a wonderful place to dine elegant, polished, and known for being very strict with their menu and dining standards, which truly shows in the quality of the food. Everything is prepared with intention, consistency, and care, making it a standout spot in Montréal’s restaurant scene.nnThe appetizers were a great way to begin the meal. The salmon tartare, whether with classic seasoning or truffle oil, was fresh and bright. The grilled calamari was tender and full of flavor, while the crab cake had a perfectly crisp exterior and a rich, satisfying center. The panko-crusted goat cheese was a highlight warm, creamy, and beautifully balanced with the apple and walnut salad. The vegetable and grilled sausage minestrone was hearty and comforting, packing great flavor in every spoonful.nnFor the main courses, Leméac continues to impress. The duck leg confit was cooked to perfection tender, flavorful, and fall-off-the-bone good. The prime grilled rib eye was juicy and cooked exactly as ordered, a great choice for any steak lover. The asparagus and wild mushroom risotto was creamy, earthy, and satisfying, while the braised beef cheeks bourguignon offered deep, rich flavors that showcase true French cooking technique.nnDessert was just as memorable. The Pain Perdu was warm, soft, and indulgent, and the Crème Caramel au Café had the perfect balance of sweetness and coffee notes. The Vanilla Crème Brûlée was silky and perfectly torched, and the Pudding au Caramel was smooth and comforting, a great way to end the night.nnThe flavors overall were very good and surprisingly casual for such a refined setting, making the restaurant feel approachable while still luxurious. Service was excellent, quick, attentive, and professional, which made the experience even more enjoyable.nnLeméac is definitely a spot worth visiting if you want a well-executed meal in a classy, welcoming atmosphere. I would absolutely return.
The service was warm, attentive, and truly made me feel welcomed.nThe food was soo good!!!nThe mac and cheese was incredibly rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced.nThe magret de canard with the shiitake dumpling twist was absolutely divine, full of flavor and beautifully executed.nThis dining experience was good with refined dishes and impeccable service.nI can't wait to come backn
