Absolutely amazing experience from the beginning to the end! Josh makes amazing cocktails and the food is impeccable. Highly recommend this place, definitely try steak tartare and the duck! They have a cool patio with a roof too,
Wow. Even for takeout, this place was amazing - hands down the best takeout I’ve had in the last year. I don’t know what sauce that was with the steak and fries but it was fantastic. That would be the one dish I recommend everyone try. Everything else was great too though, amazing flavours, and even being delivered in a container, the fries were still crispy. Definitely ordering again to try the mac!
I wanted to come here before they closed and glad I did. The escargot was the best cooked escargot I've ever had. The fries were crunchy outside and fluffy inside, with the lemon and herbs brightening them up. The duck breast was tender while the duck leg was falling apart with crunchy skin. The broccolini was cooked so that it had a satisfying snap as I bit through it, but I don't think the accompaniments to the broccolini added much. The chocolate used in the chocolate tart was dark, making the tart not so sweet. I kinda wish the tart shell had more of a crunch to it for textural contrast. The sea bream dish was alright, but for me the vinaigrette on the fennel was a bit too acidic. I think service was excellent the entire night, but something was said at the end of our visit that rubbed our party the wrong way. I won't say what it was, but it was related to tipping and service. And while I understand that tipping is a significant element in the western restaurant culture, a statement such as the one that was made could be interpreted in certain negative ways. And while I've personally brushed the statement aside, I am not sure about other members of my group, and it's quite frankly a bad way to end a night that was otherwise great. But once again, aside from that one statement, the service was excellent in my opinion. The vibe was cool. The place was dimly lit, and they were playing bangers all night California Love, Gangster's Paradise, etc.. Not a 5 because of the statement and partially the sea bream dish. Thank you Le Phenix for the hospitality and I hope that Chantecler opens and is just as successful.
This was our first time on a patio post re-opening and we felt so comfortable that safety was their main priority! The food was absolutely delectable and a special mention to the trout which was cooked to perfection! Don't miss out on the panna cotta No, one isn't enough between two people Thank you for the wonderful service, vibe and food Team Le Phénix =
Amazing food! The roasted leeks with puff pastry is surprisingly good as I'm usually not a huge fan of leeks. Super bummed that I discovered this place right before it's closing.
A small restaurant that opens until very late. For someone who dines at a fairly late hour, I am glad this place was open since they serve delicious food. The onion soup was strong in flavours, I especially liked the stringy cheese on top. For the oysters, it was superb with the cocktail sauce. The beef tartare's flavours was on point, even after finishing that big of a plate I wasn't even tired of it yet. On the other hand, the brussel sprout was a bit too bitter for me. Their 16oz tenderloin steak sounds very attractive byt the price of 85$ sounds a bit too scary for me. I would love to try a lot more of their dishes, like their duck. The atmosphere is very enjoyable, the only thing is just the music that is a bit too loud for me. The service was friendly and welcoming, even though it was very late, the waiters still served us with a smile and a fiendly attitude.
I stumbled across Le Phenix as I was searching for good restaurants on a Thursday night with an outdoor patio and I'm so glad I found this place! Everything from the food, to the staff, to the health & safety standards are of the highest standard and implemented in a respectful and mindful manner for both patrons and staff. I made a reservation online to secure a table and showed up just on time to get seated. When you walk in, you are greeted by friendly staff wearing masks who happily bring you to the patio in the back, but first asking that you sanitize your hands first with their hand sanitizers at the front. When you reach the patio, you are greeted with a cute outdoor patio that manages to be both spacious and cozy at the same time. The picnic style tables have tall acrylic dividers installed in the middle to maintain a safe distance between patrons. We were sat down and given paper plates and wooden utensils wrapped in a napkin. This is a rather particular detail, but I loved that they use special paper plates that weren't your typical Dixie plates. They have menus taped to the wall behind the tables so it's easier for each table to see what to order without touching a physical menu in their hands. A fellow patron suggested we get the Tuna Crudo as it is a fave amongst customers but we decided to get the Shrimp & Dip instead as an appetizer. Little did we know, both these apps were sold out as they are both popular options! We finally picked Steak Tartare for our app. For mains, we ordered a Steak Frites and Roast Lamb Loin. We also ordered cocktails but the names slip my mind; though the one with tequila tasted a lot better than the one with dark rum. Steak Tartare - Absolutely loved it! I've had a fair share of tartares and this may be by far one of my faves. Even my friend who never had tartare before found himself enjoying it. Steak Frites - The steak is cooked medium rare and was quite tender, once you spread the butter over the meat, it was so mouthwateringly amazing. The frites which were deliciously crispy on the outside with a soft inside, were nicely complimented by the aioli sauce. Roast Lamb Loin - Oof, the way the lamb just MELTS in your mouth is to die for. The ratatouille around it helps to balance that rich flavour in the lamb. The basil also just adds that little touch on top. The staff and service - Such lovely and friendly people to talk to while you enjoy the food. They made everyone feel welcome and cared for, especially when we were told that the Shrimp & Dip was sold out, our waiter gave us a little cocktail drink to make up for it. I would most certainly come back as it seems like they may change up their menu occasionally just a guess judging from the link on their website saying 'July Menu' as opposed to just 'menu'. Last note I'd like to add is that when I went to eat it was July 30 2020, and Stage 3 was in the works of getting implemented. The staff at Le Phenix expressed that they were going to hold off on having patrons dine inside the restaurant until they felt comfortable with implementing the best measures to maintain health & safety standards during COVID-19. Huge props on their part in making that decision and putting customer safety as a priority.
There was honestly not a single dish I did not like. Everything was more than good. This is an excellent spot and you will not be disappointed.
Went here for their buck a shuck oysters and couldn't pass on their other menu items. The beef tartar and escargot was really good and their oysters are a steal! They're closing down this place but they're moving to a different location with a different name so have to check it out.Food: 4/5
The back patio is very chill and I enjoyed the vibe along with the food and service. They are very big on keeping everything sanitary during these times. My only issue was that they never mentioned that another party was waiting for our table until the party arrived. It would have been nice if we got advanced notice as we had to quickly finish our drinks.
