The best restaurant in Montreal I went with my boyfriend for special occasion dinner. It exceeded my expectations. I love all the taste of each food. The waiter is so lovely. I think this Le filet is the best gourmet restaurant In Montreal. The taste of each food is excellent.

The front of the restaurant was very subtle, making it a little hard to find/notice. Good Ambiance, excellent service, and stylish interior decor. Highlight of the meal was definitely the praline cake, which was the special desert of the night. Had the oyster, the grilled octopus and "Fish on the fly" which happened to be grilled sea bass. The thing that kept Le Filet from receiving 5 stars from me is the lack of wow factor in terms of taste. The presentation was meticulous but not elaborate, and that's ok. What's not ok was the main course. The sea bass was rather disappointing. Served grilled, skin on, with shallot & orange zest. The zest imparted an overpowering taste on the fish, completely covering the delicate and subtle taste of the sea bass. It could very well be that I encountered one of the "off" nights of Le Filet. Or perhaps the standing menu items have a more consistent quality than the non-standard fish of the day dishes. For a restaurant with such a high rating on TripAdvisor.ca, I expected better. Lastly, the coffee, I assume it's a candle and not the waitress trying to tell me something...

Aside from the amazing squid ink pasta, the unbelievable oysters and true french service. This place has perfect ambience and the best staff. Wine list could use a hint of other counties, but get it. You will not be disappointed. I was actually referred by another restaurant to come. And it was worth every second. DG

Amazing seafood from owners of Chasse et Peche, impressive service, amazing quality. Impress your date or your biz partners!!! reservations a must.

Great ambiance, warm setting, located near the mount royal. exellent choice for fish lovers 1 a rarety can also reserve for lgroups and private events
