Decent hotel. When I first checked in, the room I was given was not yet cleaned. I walked in and there were used towels in a pile on the bathroom floor, the bedding was all over the floor and there were empty wine bottles everywhere. I went back to the check in desk and they were very nice about it and found me a new room after searching for a bit. This room was clean, but it was much smaller than the original room I was given and I was charged for the sale price. Breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel was very tasty and the server was extremely polite and attentive. My only critique is that there needs to be either a cheaper buffet option/ pay what you take from the buffet, or more lighter options on the menu. I decided to go through the buffet one day as the menu items sounded too big for my appetite. I got 1 slice of toast with jam and a few pieces of melon and I was charged $45. It was somewhat difficult finding a drinking water tap in the hotel.
I had the pleasure of staying at the Fairmont Château Laurier in Ottawa and I couldn't be more impressed. From the moment I walked in, I was transported to another era with the stunning architecture and elegant decor. The room was spacious, clean, and well-appointed with all the amenities one could want. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making my stay even more enjoyable. I also had the chance to dine in the restaurant and the food was fantastic! The location of the hotel is perfect, just steps away from the heart of Ottawa and all its beautiful attractions. I highly recommend the Fairmont Château Laurier for anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable stay in the city.
My now fiance took me to the Fairmont for a long weekend away and it was hands down the best place I've ever stayed! He called ahead and let them know he was planning on proposing and they hooked us up with a surprise amazing view. Everything was absolutely perfect!! We'll definitely be back!!!Rooms: 5/5
Room was gorgeous, complimentary water bottles were appreciated, interesting history and architecture. My wife claims a spirit was in our room throughout the night but they seemed to not be malicious so we did not mind. if your looking for a haunted castle to stay in this is a good option. Nearby activities: Parliament hill is very close and byward market Walkability: parliamet hill and byward market are easily walkable as well as rideau mall
Very nice location but old hotel that needs some updates. Our coffee machine did not work as they had it plugged into a power bar that kept blowing fuse’s. The front desk was friendly and quick to respond however the repair man admitted that whoever installed it did a lazy job. Also the blinds in the room are not “black out”. For the price I would have expected better blinds and a coffee maker that actually works. After reading the bad reviews on the valet service we parked around the corner under ground at the National Art Center for $12 a night. I would highly recommend that.
My wife and I spent the weekend at Fairmont: Building: 10/10, you feel the history in the building, feels like a palace, so many pictures of royal personalities,...,etc Location: 10/10, walking distance from many spots in downtown. Service: 10/10, they make you feel like a royalty! Room: 2/10, very outdated, shower had a very poor water pressure, also very old furniture. Amenities: 3/10, inhouse bar and restaurants were good but pool or heated pool as advertised was extremely cold. Parking: 4/10, it costs $60 a night
The hotel has a modern-day victorian-styled architecture - the external look and the internal designs. From the lobby, to the elevator, to the rooms. Check-in was quick and fast. The staff were super helpful and listened. The location is in downtown Ottawa and close to most consulate, embassies etc. There are some other amenities that I didn’t get to check-out: pool, restaurant, spa I think , art gallery etc.
Spotless charming hotel welcomed our French poodle with personalized ceramic water/food bowls. Zoe's food and service top notch. Park and shopping within few minutes walk. 2 Managers welcomed us with big smiles!Rooms: 5/5
We live in Ottawa and decided to stay here to celebrate my partner’s birthday. The Gold Experience exceeded our expectations: beautiful large room, outstanding friendly service, with canapés in the evening, as well as a scrumptious breakfast in the morning all contributed to a perfect stay! We would definitely recommend this beautiful historic hotel located in downtown Ottawa. Can’t wait to return for another celebration. Rooms: The rooms on the fourth floor are well worth the extra cost. Felt very pampered there. Easy check in as well as top notch service.
One of my favourite hotels, historic and majestic. They don't build hotels like this anymore. The location is great and walking distance to so many historic places Art Gallery, Mint, Parliament, Mall, Restaurants The rooms are a bit old and run down. Rooms: Nice rooms with high ceilings and larger than usual space, but a bit old a run down. Washroom was small with no exhaust fans. Nearby activities: Central location. Near Shaw Convention Centre. The location is great and walking distance to historic sites, art galleries, mint, Parliament, two minutes from the mall, A lot of restaurants at the Byward Market. Safety: Safe location. Walkability: Walking distance to galleries, mint, Parliament, two minutes from the mall, A lot of restaurants at the Byward Market. Parks are nearby. Food & drinks: Room service, onsite restaurants. Zoe's and Wilfrid's can be busy and reservations are recommended just in case there is an event going on. Noteworthy details: You can find famous Yousuf Karsh photography here.
