My name is Meghan Stamp and I am a resident at Lakeside Terrace Supportive Living here in Port Colborne. I have lived here for 1 year and honestly the living conditions here are not terrible. What I mean by not terrible is that the bathrooms get cleaned, the floors get swept and mopped daily, all the residents get their laundry done and lastly all the residents get their rooms cleaned thoroughly by the staff here. There was a change in the menu and the food since then has been terrific. Also the staff are very kind, personable and they always try to meet every residents needs if they can in a timely manner. There are many reasons why I chose to move from my hometown of Guelph to this Supportive Living Facility. I was dealing with homelessness and I was really bad in the drug scene to the point where I was close to dead. I finally got accepted here at this location of Supportive Living and I accepted the offer because I not only wanted to get sober and I have been now for around 4 or 5 months. Also I came to Supportive living because well I was done with being homeless and I wanted to start life fresh and on a clean slate in a different city so what I’m trying to say is that Supportive Living saved my life and I would not be 4 or 5 months sober if it wasn’t for Supportive Living taking me in and giving me a roof over my head, and for staff that cared about me. SupportiveLiving.ca is a great workplace with friendly people. We are provided with many opportunities to learn and use new skills, especially when it came to working with the public and residents. Without question or judgment, Management is there EVERY SINGLE WORK DAY... assisting us with a smile. Supportiveliving.ca is one of the most compassionate, helpful organizations in the community and I find ALL of our staff and Management to be very professional. The work atmosphere is unparalleled to any job I have had in my professional career.
I started working at White House Lodge Supportive Living residence two months ago and what can I say? I have worked in many group homes but found SupportiveLiving.ca to be a large, welcoming company, offering so much opportunity to grow. My decision to leave the other group homes and work at SupportiveLiving.ca was solely based on the amazing support I received from their management team. It is a breath of fresh air to know my voice is heard and they are committed to my success. While my home base is White House Lodge, I was given the opportunity to travel to other Supportive Living residences. It gives me the chance to work with a diverse set of residents, with various diagnoses, enabling me to learn different ways of how to help them. I am also delighted to work with a new community in direct coordination with churches or food banks. My job is never boring and my work keeps me on my toes. I highly recommended working here. SupportiveLiving.ca is a great company invested in its staff, clients and residents!--Kenneth K
My wife and I moved in and it was a nice enough place with a latch on the inside of our door for privacy because the doors don't have looks. The staff said it had to be removed and have walked into our room without even knocking on the door. We pay $2200.00 a month for no cable for the TV in our room. Low protein and high carbs for food. Theft from our room and the staff yelling at other residents who aquse them of steeling makes this place a negative 3 on a scale of one to ten
Beware of any 5 star ratings you see here. They are from staff and friends of the owner. They are taking advantage of residents with low income and disabilities. The food is minimal and poor quality. They are unwilling to deal with the ongoing problems with pest control and take offense and punish residents when anyone pushes for change. Shameful.
They also need to get rid of old furniture. For the price residents pay. The residents all pay different prices and the website says that it is a base pat for everyone. They deserve a clean well maintained environment, but they don't have it.
This is an unregulated rooming house. Don't be fooled by the professional looking website or the positive comments from staff. That is just window dressing. Behind closed doors there are bed bugs, mould and low-level food. I have been asking for change since I found out my brother lives there. Most discussions have led to many accusations and threats of eviction. It seems my recent complaints on social media have led to the owner and management staff at supportiveliving.ca to retaliate by cutting off the Wi-Fi to all of the residents. They are now further isolated from the outside world and unable to have a voice. A horrible place to live. RUN!
Can you please tell me how many beds are in your facility? Thanks very much.
