Lake Sylvia State Park

Story

Lake Sylvia State Park is a 233acre state-operated, public recreation area bordering the north edge of Montesano in Grays Harbor County, Washington. The park is located in dense temperate rain forest. The park offers swimming, hiking, camping, fishing, and non-motored boating. It was built around an old lumber mill pond, which was used for a few years to power the town's first electrical generation plant. The rustic dam that powered the mill and the power plant remains at the western end of the lake and feeds the lower reaches of Sylvia Creek. The park is home to a mixed flock of mallard ducks and Canadian geese. A family of ospreys, as well as occasional bald eagles, also occupy the lake area. There is also a small group of beavers living along Sylvia Creek, which flows from the lake. The municipal watershed of Montesano lies above the head of the lake, at the eastern end of Lake Sylvia, and is accessible by foot through the park. The city watershed is managed very similarly to a national forest and serves as a corridor for wildlife to enter and leave the park and the northern parts of the town.

Decided on a Rainy Day Walk with the Doggie. Trails are nice, and we'll drained. Bathrooms and coin operated showers. Water easily available with drinking water fountain by the play area. Boat launch (non motorized boats) and swimming area. Nice scenery and nice Park overall ☺. Did walk the "Creekside" trail off forestry trail. Shows it's good for bike's. I would say not so much. Best walked first.

It's beautiful! Throughout my childhood, I've always enjoyed going to Lake Sylvia. It was very quiet & peaceful the last time we visited, which was mid March 2018 (last week). It's kept relatively clean in my opinion & I would highly recommend checking it out at some point.

Beautiful landscaping, well paved trails, nice quiet surrounding to get away from a hard stressful day, or just another peaceful get away to enjoy a family outing. Plus you're Able to camp. An area for kids to play and to top it off a place to fish, float ya boat. But Fyi ....discover pass required.

Cute little Campground! Has a lake, playground, showers, grills, picnic tables! Better if you make reservations! Has Ranger on call. Pets allowed on leash! Would definitely recommend this campsite!
