Really good breakfast! Absolutely delicious. Make sure to go early for the best pricing. Service was excellent and free coffee refills. Better than A&W breakfast in my opinion too for a lower price when before 8am! Definitely found out why this place is so popular and almost always full.
It must be over a decade since I’ve had breakfast at La Grand-Mère Poule and all I can remember from back then is not liking their coffee and that their washrooms made me chuckle with the unexpected sound of clucking chickens over their speakers. Now, with Shack Attakk Beaubien added to their name, I went back 3 weeks ago and they have a new soundtrack! Dining indoors, or on their patio, to the sounds of the ocean breeze with its waves and seagulls; it all matches perfectly with their surfer-vibe decor. Their washrooms downstairs are definitely worth visiting for all the creative effort they’ve put into their elaborate artwork, colours, posters and lighting. Am glad to say that their regular brew coffee is actually quite good now!! I quite enjoyed La Grand “Mer” Poule, as they call their smoked salmon and asparagus stuffed crêpe bretonne, topped with hollandaise sauce and gratinéd cheese. I was expecting the smoked salmon that gets served with cream cheese on bagels but it was actually baked salmon; very tasty and not fishy, just as it should be. There’s lots to choose from on their vast menus for breakfast, lunch and supper. #francina_a_foodie
Some of the reviews don’t understand the time we are living in, if you look around every store, every restaurant is understaffed! You must be comprehensive when going out, and understand that now more than before may take longer to get your food! Despite the wait time the food is delicious! This has become my bf and I favourite breakfast spot! The food is always warm and hot, and the lattes in the bowl are so good! Very unique and cute decor, and likeable staff! Will keep coming back
Wonderful experience and amazing staff. The owner was present at all times passing by speaking to each table and helping out. Beautiful watching staff as a family and can see how they enjoy their craft. Their homemade ham was natural, authentic, and just delightful! The hollindaise sauce made from scratch is light and exactly how it should taste! Proportions were just right and great variety of options. Thank you to all the entire staff and was a pleasure to have a great meal with family again! I would only suggest a couple of menus available in English for tourists and/or for whom may not have cell phones at their disposal.
My sister and I had breakfast…it was delish, I love their baguettes. The service was impeccable and the owner was coming around the tables to greet us. The ambiance is great, I highly recommend it!
The food was a bit on the salty side but it was okay. I went there for breakfast the place is super full and you will need to wait in line. But overall good service.Food: 3/5
Long line on a Sunday as expected but it went by fast. Large portions and decent prices though I find $4 a little excessive to add cheese to my eggs Benedict. I'll be back if I'm in the area.
Great food and ambiance! Waiter very knowledgeable. We had lobster rolls and fish tacos which were awesome! Kids had hotdogs with onion ring sidesauce is insane! A nice discovery, sure to come back again!
I heard about the buzz around La grand Mère poule, so i went there with a friend to try it. Waited 1 hour to be seated 2 couples who arrived after us got seated about 15 mins before us , we ordered and had to wait another 30 mins to get food and coffees. When food arrived everything was cold and i mean everything. Eggs were dry, bacon was hard and cold. Potatoes were hard and almost uncooked. Very unpleasant and the prices online and in the menu at the restaurant are differents. Will not come back, very disappointed. Ps: I’m not posting a review unless its really good or really bad. Mind you, in this case it was really bad. Ps: 2 : heres a picture of my meal right before i left. And i was still hungry.
There's some really good food there but the menu is a little strange. The names of the breakfasts are really not descriptive, navigating the options is a bit of a headache. Also, there are only two, super specific crepe options but like five pancake options, feels sad. Oh and the opening hours on Google are misleading because they are a combination of the hours of both businesses at the address. Maybe find some way to fix that?
