Beware this organization! They will apply a ton of sales pressure to get you to sign up and pay a large up front fee. I called to cancel my membership and after assuring me it was cancelled, they continued to bill monthly. Their fine print requires mailing in a form, which means the account manager lied about cancellation. There are so many great ways to get a workout in the Twin Cities - outside around the lakes, inside at the YMCA or Orange Theory - don't go here. Shame on you and your shady business practices LAF!

I like This gym. The only thing is that the equipment is so outdated. This is one of the oldest la fitness's here in Minnesota. I really wish they would bring in new equipment.

Staff is horrible. They pretty much just want to make sales and don't care at all about customer service. I've worked in customer service for 6+ years, so usually I try to cut people some slack. But every employee I've had an encounter with has been rude, unfriendly, and even lied about membership perks. They told me I had 2 weeks of guest passes for signing up, I brought my brother in and they wouldn't even let him try the gym out.

DO NOT JOIN LA FITNESS. Go to the YWCA or YMCA instead. It is more affordable and they have experience working with middle class to low income individuals.

I am severely disappointed in the treatment and services at the LA Fitness Uptown located at 3001 Hennepin Ave S Suite 2210, Minneapolis, MN 55408. I brought in an ad from the LA Fitness Website stating that there was a “$99.99 Initiation Fee and just $29.99 for multi-club access” (I have enclosed the ad there was NO expiration date listed). At sign up, I was told that even though the promotion had passed its trial period the $128.99 would be honored. After sign up, I requested a receipt 3 times from Damon Brown, the membership coordinator. Each time he stated that “You will receive the receipt via email.”  I insisted on having a paper copy for my records and was given the runaround each time.

 I have checked my email everyday since 9/8/2017 and have still failed to receive a receipt in my spam or main email boxes. The $128.99 promised was not honored and my bank informed me on Saturday, September 9th that I was charged $171.34. On my second visit, Monday, September 11th 2017 at 4pm, I was given a “preview” training session with a man named Nick. I told him I could not afford the membership fees and he kept negotiating down to $160 a month and a split of the initiation fee ($259, $130 scheduled for 9/15/2017). 

I felt pressured and he was giving me a very cold response when I explained to him that I did not have the funds to pay for the personal training. I called him afterwards at 5:54pm on Monday, September 11th (9/11/2017)  stating I no longer wanted personal training services. I asked Nick if I needed a cancellation form and he stated no. Naturally, due to the lack of documentation I received with Damon, I decided to write this letter instead.

It is fine, I suppose. Free parking is a mile away & the pay parking ramp is expensive. There is no pool. Classy neighborhood. Pretty neat locker rooms with saunas. Came to this gym on an evening outing a couple of times but did not return as it is in an inconvenient location for me - far from work & far from home. Evil thing to do but the gym membership has since been cancelled as a luxury health club doesn't fit in the long-term budget
