Some of the dishes were very good, others generic. Beef rendang and roti canai were excellent. Satay too dry and chewy. Stir fried noodles too soft. Overall I was satisfied with the dishes.
This place has great Malay Singaporean food and I feel people could easily this place along rupert. First thing is the service is good, has a family owned vibe, not sure if it actually is and I’d say it’s better to come here in a small group so you can try more items! The roti canai was great, it was flakey and buttery, and balanced well with the satay sauce. Next up, I’d recommend getting the tofu and having the sauce on the side. Id imagine you’d have too much sauce if you didn’t get it on the side, and I found the tofu to be too oily, although it’s a bit expected because it’s deep fried. I feel they could’ve dabbed it with paper towel or something because it tasted good, but just too oily for my liking. Next up, the Hainan chicken was moist, toppings were good and this is a simple dish that’s well priced and I’d recommend everyone who comes here to try it if you haven’t already done so! The laksa was okay, I’ve had better in Vancouver. Felt the seafood they gave was just a lot of squid and I just felt the flavour could’ve been better. Lastly, the veggies were really good! I loved the veggie combination and they cooked everything perfectly, not to mention the shrimp flavour really adds to it - it was a great stir fry. However, it was a bit too oily once again. Overall, the food here is good. Everything I tried wasn’t bad. I feel the food is fairly priced for what you get and dish sizes are just right. My only negative thing about this place was that some dishes were too oily for my liking, so if you’re on a low fat diet, this isn’t your place. It’s more of a comfort feel good food when having a cheat day.
Only ordered Laksa rice noodle. Too much oil on the soup, couldn't get the taste until the removal of the oil on the surface of the soup. Didn't taste the much of the laksa spices. I didn't read the menu carefully as the print characters was tiny and didn't realize that the beef topping costed extra.Food: 3/5
One of the best malaysian food i have had, this place definitely deserves a higher rating than 3.7. Their mee goreng is full of flavour and wok hay! We couldn’t stop ourselves from eating it, thats why the plate was half empty. The beef curry has a hint of coconut aftertaste, which adds up to it’s fragrance and flavour. Absolutely loved it!
I have nothing to complain about the food while the service is a bit slow. Beef curry was good, my husband loves it, he ordered it twice. My nesa lemak rice with rendang lamb is a great journey of flavor. Lamb was tender and marinated well with lemongrass & coconut milk. Gonna come back.Food: 5/5
Great portion, reasonably priced tbh I was surprised at their cheap price and generous portions. Ordered the chicken rice, fried tofu, beef brisket curry and fried keuh teow. I felt the over worked/tiredness staffs vibes when entering and not as lively or welcoming otherwise, I would have rate it as five stars. Definitely worth visiting, if you're in Vancouver. Next visit, mamak mee goring, as recommended by fellow Singaporean friends.
the BEST Malaysia food in Vancouver! Awesome taste! And the price is surprisingly low consider such large portion of food. One thing to improve, the hainanese chicken is super fresh and meat quality is super good, but the dipping sauce isn’t that impressive tho.
Got lots of choices of malaysian food to choose from so i really respect that since not many malaysian restaurants actually serves many choices. The laksa i think its really best in town compared to other laksa of other malaysian restaurants in vancouver. Got even cendol and es kacang damnn. The nasi lemak was good too not the best was very good. Cheers! This is recommended from me!
UPDATE: finally had the food after coming back from our appointment and it was —delicious. The beef brisket was tender and sauce tasted great. The eggplant was cooked really well. I will bump them up in my books but please try to get the food prepared faster. Took them 2 hours to make our food. We ordered three common things on the menu…. Total disappointment.
Wonderful Mom and Pop eatery on the East side of Vancouver. We just happened to be driving by on our Anniversary and thought we give it a try. The owners were very accommodating as we had a 14 month old baby in tow. Food was amazing and so was the service. If you like Malaysian food, you won't be disappointed. We’ll be back for more in the near future.
