Kootenay Park Lodge

This is a lodge not a hotel, so we knew what to expect. If you want the Days Inn go into town, but for us this was away from the crowds and surrounded by mountains. We ate in the restaurant and the food was really yummy. Our cabin was a older one but had some newer floors and was updated. Most important it was nice and clean. We met Greg, who is one of the owners who had a ton of information about the area. Would stay here again if in Kootenay National Park.

Stayed in the Vermilion. New and clean. Was concerning that the smoke detector was not on the ceiling rather it was in the closet. The restaurant - for dinner we seated ourselves, found our own menus. Warm beer. Food was OK. For breakfast, though it's continental for the 20min we were there no server came out. We needed something. We even knocked and yelled into the kitchen and no one was there. Overall pretty good

I'm sure this is a fantastic place to stay - unfortunately our reservation was cancelled with 2 hours notice due to forest fires in the area. Whilst those are clearly totally beyond the Lodge's control, they only communicated the closure via email - no one answered the phones all day, provided no support or advice and no guidance on refunds. If the Lodge had shown even the slightest degree of customer service I'd have accepted that this was totally beyond their control - but they simply couldn't care about their customers...reading the Managers responses to negative reviews on TripAdvisor it's clear the owners have zero understanding of hospitality.

My wife and I just stayed at this lodge and it was a very nice stay. We arrived very late and the owners arranged for our late arrival without issues. We did have to leave a day early as the lodge was being evacuated due to wild fires, however, this was communicated to us at prior to arrival. The food was good we had the smoked chop and blackened chicken.

I just thought I'd review bc we have a reservation coming up and we just spoke with the owner. We didn't stay bc the fires have cancelled our booking and lodge is closed (understandable). We appreciated the email and phone call so we could make other arrangements. Will try to book here again in the future.
