Located in the heart of Nelson, BC, on the shores of pristine Kootenay Lake, we have been offering our handcrafted foods since 1991.

The Kootenay Bakery is a cooperative bakery using locally-sourced organic flour and they make everything from scratch, which is always nice to hear. When I was there, the selection was excellent and the bakery was fully loaded with baked goods. And while eating their cinnamon buns, fresh cinnamon twist doughnuts came out. So good! -- "Mimi's Cake Tour"

There is a great selection of things, amazing staff, and the best crossiant ever.

Excellent organic bread and cookies. Try the salted chocolate or Scotch oat cookies. For bread, the Russian rye is hard to beat. Sliced to order, as requested.

The pizza and soups, not recommended. High prices and not very flavorful. 

Super friendly and helpful staff, for the most part. Don't skip the tip jar. They work hard but always stay customer focused.

We don't live in Nelson anymore but we do miss visiting this bakery.
