Absolutely delicious chicken! When I ordered they said 15 min, it came out in 10 and I was on my way. The guys working there were quick and friendly. I ordered the chicken Katsu with rice and cabbage, it came with miso soup too, it was about $18 if I remember correctly. The portion sizes were great. I was full after half of the food and had to save it for later. I'll definitely be back!
I am a bit disappointed at the food and the price. We had pork katsu and cheese katsu but cheese katsu only had 4pc and was 17.00 where the pork katsu had 7pc and was 15.00 and it didn't make sense to us. Usually these katsu places in Japan have katsu, cabbage, rice and miso soup and it'll be around 10.00 But this place only had the rice and pork I had to ask to change the rice to cabbage. Therefore, it was overpriced. They had a good review so I'm honestly sad.
SUPER delicious!!! We took our friends from out of town here and they were so impressed! Portions were much bigger than expected so order with a bit of caution haha. We might have ended up with too much cabbage. Katsu was sooo crispy and perfectly seasoned. Loved the thick cut fries as well. Will 100% be back!!!
Got the rice bowl - tasted delicious and came with a generous amount of katsu. The extra thick batter made it crispy but surprisingly heavy for my taste. I would've preferred more curry since I've found it dry after mixing it with the rice. I also didn't like that water was self-serving and only had one communal bottle. Is it really that difficult to supply a bottle for each table?
Ordered chicken katsu curry and it was delicious. Solid price for a mid-sized meal with good portions of meat and generous serving of yummy curry. Would go again!
This is to Calgary as Saku is to Vancouver. It’s by far the best katsu place I’ve eaten at in Calgary. The crust is crispy and light in the correct way- the meat is succulent, tender and juicy. To begin with, the katsu itself is really good. We ordered the Cheese Katsu and curry and the Mixed Katsu Gravy. The sauces were modest and well seasoned! It’s a tiny little hole in the wall but it sure pulls its weight.
Amazing Katsu dishes! The breading is perfectly crispy and stays put without any sogginess/peeling. Great tasting sauces and seasonings, the side dish pickles are very welcome as well! I highly recommend the katsu curry dishes which are my favourites. The prices are very reasonable for what you get and the service is decently fast. The restaurant itself is quite small and cramped which is unfortunate in a time like this but it’s generally not too busy. Parking can be done on the street or nearby parking lots. Check this place out if you’re nearby!
Recently, my last few visit was bit disappointed. They changed the sides a lot. No salad anymore. I miss the items when Koji just opened…… -old BEST Katsu in Calgary. I often ordered their food. Took the picture below when I ordered first time, so the sides were bit different.
The curry mixed Katsu pork and shrimp were so delicious despite not being a fan of fried food. It was fluffy and light with great portions!
The katsu is perfectly crispy, juicy, tender. The curry is delicious. I really like that the place has focused on katsu in all its different versions and they do it really well. Totally recommend. It's reasonably priced, portion is perfect I was definitely full with my plate. It's a small place to dine in, they have less than 10 tables for sure. They also don't take reservations. They also don't serve alcoholic beverages. There is a warning on the qr code that says "1 main course per table" so idk if that helps anyone.
