Story

Knox Presbyterian Church is a long-established church in the heart of beautiful downtown St. Catharines.
Our minister is Dr. Clyde Ervine. He was raised in a hectic Presbyterian home in Northern Ireland, one of four siblings who indulged in the banging of pianos, doors and egos! He was educated at the University of St. Andrew’s, the University of Cambridge, and Presbyterian College, Montreal. Clyde was ordained in Cornwall, Ontario, in 1980. Since then he has pastored in Sutton, Niagara Falls, Toronto, Hamilton, and now Knox. He also spent six years as a professor at his old alma mater, Presbyterian College, Montreal. Over the years, Clyde has been active in the life of the national church, and currently teaches one course at Knox College, Toronto.
Our director of music is Ken Hutton. Ken was born and brought up in Hamilton, later graduating from McMaster University with an honours B.A. and from the University of Toronto with a B.Ed. His professional music education includes studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music, the University of Toronto, the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, and the Westminster Choir School, Princeton. Ken has been Director of Music at Ridley College since 1999, and was Director of Music here at Knox from 1993-2004. We are delighted to welcome him back.
