My husband and I went to Kiyomi restaurant tonight for our 8 year wedding anniversary dinner. We went a little before 8pm, we wanted to eat at the hibachi tables, so the hostess offered to have us wait at the bar, until the chef was available (he was preparing another family's dinner). Atmosphere was nice, music was fun. Was seated at an open grill table, and our server was friendly and took our drink order right away, and I asked for appetizers, and she immediately told us about a special. What we ordered for appetizers: crab rangoon, and salmon roe 2pc. sushi. For entrees we ordered filet mignon, and filet mignon with scallops from the hibachi menu. About 6-7 minutes later she came back with the crab rangoon, which was beautifully plated, hot and crispy. 5 pieces with a sweet slightly spicy sauce. A minute later she came back with the sushi. I was confused, because it didn't look like salmon roe sushi, when she came back, I asked her if it was salmon, or salmon roe. She said yes, it's salmon. I thought, huh, not what I was expecting. (It was the salmon sushi) I tried it and it was tasty! Tight rolled sushi, and neatly plated with the wasabi and pickled ginger curls. Only ate one piece, as a small garden salad with ginger dressing and a small bowl of mushroom & onion soup was served. I thought the salad was great, the ginger dressing spot on. Soup seemed bland in comparison. Our hibachi chef was starting to cook by that time and he was fantastic. He probably thought we were a bit boring. Haha. (He offered us sake at one point, we both declined.) We got a bit of extra onion because the first onion volcano wasn't cooperative, it kept falling apart, hah. No complaints for extra vegetables! He cooked everything beautifully, and the meat was cooked on part with our orders. Scallops deliciously seared, and perfectly seasoned. I thought the timing for the fried rice was a little off though. He had it finished cooking before the rest of the food. We did have that very minor hiccup with the noncompliant onion so it wasn't a huge deal! He did great and it was worth the dinner out to this gem of a restaurant. We thanked the chef, and we had a fun dinner thereafter. I couldn't eat all of my food decent sized portions! Husband loved his dinner too. We realized our confusion about the salmon sushi was resolved. She had heard "salmon roll" not "salmon roe." I will now have to figure the pronunciation for the Japanese word for salmon roe, and try again next time. I give the restaurant 4 stars! We had a good chuckle about overhearing Christmas music playing and vacuuming (not near us, but noticeable). We would recommend Kiyomi highly for a fun experience at the hibachi tables, or even as a sit-down at their many booths or a quick lunch break at the sushi bar. (Just make sure you're politely clear about which one you want). We will go back again!

Always polite and fun service. Great food and drinks. Always get hibachi and sushi. Taste and presentation = 6 stars.

Had a great time we did the hibachi table. The cheff was great. Very funny & talented. Food was good. I loved the onion soup and the Tiffany rolls :) I would definitely recommend giving them a try. 🍼🍶
