Only commenting on the healthcare facility. The Kingston General Hospital KGH site is an acute-care teaching hospital affiliated with Queen's University with over 500 beds located in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. It was funded in 1835 and has been the oldest public hospital in Canada still in operation with most of its buildings are intact. Architecturally reflecting the evolution of health care in the 19th and 20th centuries, the KGH site was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 1995. Along with the Hotel Dieu Hospital HDH site, these hospitals deliver health care services to more than 500,000 residents throughout southeastern Ontario; conduct health care research and train future health care professionals. They are specialized in Cardiac Care, Critical Care, Emergency Care, Mental Health, Paediatrics, Oncology, and Nephrology…Thank you for saving lives.
I've been in the care of KGH staff for a few short term stays now. The nurses, personal care assistants and doctors have been incredible. The doctors have been excellent at communicating and treating despite being incredibly busy. The nurses along with the assistants have all been exceptional. They were very pro active at anticipating my needs and genuinely care about their patients well-being. I think it takes a special kind of person to dedicate their career to caring for sick people and KGH does an amazing job of finding these people. Sincere thank you all for your kindness and care.
Kidd 2 ICU nurses and doctors are angels and so professional, caring, polite to a loved family member in their care. This hospital amazing!! Even the operators are so wonderful and work tirelessly. Thank you for always going above and beyond with your care.
Great hospital. When priority calls, they answer. From the time I was lowered from the ambulance to the time I was resting after a stint was inserted into my artery was 15 minutes. The staff and the paramedics were fabulous.
Worst hospital ever, they don't care about the clients, I brought my husband to the emergency room, and he was in pain, too much pain to walk, and I went to tell the nurse they will just tell you oh we're busy. And left us there for about 5 hours even though I let the nurse know my husband has kidney stone and his pain was getting worse when we're waiting and we were with a new born, the new born shouldn't be in the hospital where would get him sick They should change the name of the emergency room to take their time room. I was in a car accident when I was pregnant . When I was in the emergency room, no one cared I was pregnant and needed help and left me there for 3 and a half hours without checking if my baby was ok or not. They were lucky. My baby was fine or else I would sue them
This review is for the emergency department. Terrible staffing distribution, and god awful wait times. Doctor's don't take the time to listen to you, and often times miss things, or you have to make several visits before they will do any investigations. I have had 95% terrible experiences for myself and my children here, but we don't really have a choice as this is the only ER in Kingston. I can't tell you how many awful stories we have from here. From the time they almost sent my daughter away when she ended up needing to be in critical care had I not pushed for them to keep her, she could have died, to myself waiting 4 hours in the waiting room this evening with PVC'S every 5 seconds on ECG, with a history of heart failure. Hands down would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.
After spending many hours being cared for and diagnosed as needing an appendectomy, I watched the wonderful ER staff try to keep up with the many people coming and going. There were a lot of angry, grouchy patients, some needing up to 4 staff to manage them, and they were unfailingly kind and polite. Hats off the you all there at Emerg; I saw you and you are Rock Stars.
Recently had a visit to the cardiology department at KGH. Cannot express how efficient and caring the Doctors and all their assistants were. They work under circumstances that are demanding yet they do so with a great attitude.
Most DISCUSTING, FILTHY emergency dept. we have ever been too. Don't think the floors have been cleaned forever. The entrance way to emergency area needs to be cleaned on a daily basis. Along with the whole area. The washrooms are Disgusting!!. We know there is a shortage of staff, but get someone to clean it. Very important to the health of everyone in this area. The rest of the hospital is clean. Husband had 2 surgeries there. And I alway seen the cleaning staff constantly cleaning. Pay someone extra time go clean it..!!!!!!
This happened awhile ago, paraphrasing a bit but this situation did happen Me with family: We're here to see our grandma, she's on her deathbed Receptionist: Yep we just need XYZ from everyone before we can let you in Me: ok no problem Receptionist: Ok now just give us some time to process everything Me: She's literally going to die any minute now, can't the grandkids go now at least? 3 people Receptionist: Not until we tell you, and only one person at a time One of my family members started arguing, no swearing or verbal abuse but they still kicked us all out because they were "too loud" while arguing. Grandma died alone with no one at all by her side while the receptionists gossiped. Absolutely no empathy, they didn't care at all. Wish we actually had a choice of hospital sometimes, as a visitor I've never once had a good experience with the receptionists, they definitely need A LOT of PR training
