I had the Wor Wonton Soup, which was one of the best I've ever tasted. The portion was generous and the price was very reasonable considering the food quality. I'll add that the service was excellent and the ambiance was nice -- cleanliness was on point as well. FIVE stars for you Wonton King!
Won Ton King used to be one our favorite places for War Won Ton soup. Although it's still good, several other restaurants have surpassed them in quality. The Won Tons are still tasty but the broth needs improving to keep up with others. That's why I could only rate it 4 out of 5 stars. The staff is friendly and the service is quick.Food: 4/5
Broth is delicious and the wontons are pretty good. The noodles were lacking a little for me. Chili oil was delicious and the service was great.Recommended dishesSoup
Wonton King is an exceptional restaurant that has truly exceeded my expectations in every aspect. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm and friendly service from the staff. The atmosphere of the restaurant was inviting and comfortable, making it the perfect place for a delicious meal. The food at Wonton King was absolutely amazing. The menu was diverse and offered a wide range of dishes, but I decided to try their specialty - wontons. They were hands down the best wontons I have ever had. The wrapper was perfectly crispy and the filling was savory and flavorful. I also tried some of their other dishes and each one was equally delicious. The portions were generous and the presentation was visually stunning. The service at Wonton King was also fantastic. The waitstaff was attentive and accommodating, making sure that my dining experience was enjoyable from start to finish. They were knowledgeable about the menu and were able to make excellent recommendations based on my preferences. Overall, I would highly recommend Wonton King to anyone looking for a fantastic meal in a comfortable and welcoming environment. The food and service were both top-notch and I will definitely be returning soon. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and give Wonton King a try!
Great soup, but the owner keeps all the tips! Remember to tip cash here if you can. EDIT: I was actually informed years ago, by a different employee about the owner keeping the tips for themselves. They suggested I tip cash, so the owner couldn’t take it. I work nearby, and eat there all the time. I decided to ask a different worker there awhile ago to see if the owner still took the tips for themselves, and the worker said yes. I’m not sure how a worker could work somewhere for several months as you say, and not know how the tips work. I stand by my review, as multiple employees have told me you keep their tips. Which is not an acceptable practice in my eyes.
Haven't been here in about a decade and it hasn't changed much! My husband and I ordered the traditional War Wonton soup, and it was delicious, except for the noodles. They had the taste and consistency of noodles left in tepid water...like old leftover noodles.Food: 3/5
2 bowls of soup one size and a bottle of water, 32.00. Homemade bone broth soup was good, a bit salty. The wheat noodles looked firm but once in my mouth it was just mushy. No substance to them. The rest of the soup, wontons, meat and the few veggies was good. MSG in food gave me a few trips to the bathroom but that was a given as I asked if they had any in the soup and they had said yes. The cashier/server was polite and attentive. Average atmosphere. Wish they would recycle more than just bottles and cans. All the plastic bowls could be recycled.
Before I go into my review I will say that I am biased. I am a calgary native and have been eating at wonton king, and kings wor wonton since basically I was born. This locations soup is good, not great like eat 5 bowls of this amazing goodness great as is my normal experience just good, not the king's experience I remember. The soup broth was excellent as always, the bbq pork excellent, the noodles and wonton were sadly quite over cooked and mushy. I think it gave the wontons a very overly porky flavor maybe not enough seasoned or maybe just over cooked not sure. I'll be back again when I'm down this way to try them out again, hopefully it was just an off day for the food. Again good soup, not drive across the city good, but worth eating any day your around here.
Wonton King McCall Lake wow! The food is always top notch and fresh but I come back for the fun atmosphere. Friendly service 100% of the time. Enjoying the Thursday Rice Bowl Special of sweet and sour pork.
Ive eaten at Kings for over 20 years now. Through that time they had an ownership/location/recipe changes. Went for lunch today and got the Wor Wonton soup, an item that made them famous in Calgary other than the chili sause. It was disappointing although on the surface of things it was an attempt at a good Wor Wonton the wheat noodles had a paste like texture/flavor and the broth was lacking the richness its known for. Not to mention it was served with plastic spoon/bowl even when dinning in restaurant..... felt very lazy old/tired is what my buddy described it as. I likely will not be returning unless they have a huge shift in direction.
