Overall great value, excellent hard working owners and good food! Ordered an earlyish dinner on a Saturday. I called instead of ordering over an app and it was only a half hour wait at 5:30. When I went to pick up, one of my dishes was taking a bit longer. Ended up waiting for 10 mins and saw a steady stream of people coming in for pickup. I could see them making the food and they clearly are incredibly busy with only 3 people from what I could see working, but were steadily pumping out dishes. For the extra wait they gave me a couple spring rolls. Amazing! Big portions. For $55 we had more than enough food for two hungry people. Dragon Gate will be our new go to Chinese takeout place!
Tried the beef and black bean as well as Cantonese chow mein. The service was very friendly and it was ready quickly! Although I found the dishes left something to be desired. They tasted a bit bland and seemed very greasy. My partner liked it better than I did, but we were both a little disappointed after all the great reviews. Perhaps I would try Dragon Gate again.
Halal meals are available at the restaurant - Hakka-Indian-Chinese foods both in buffet and a-la-carte styled.
The food quality is not the same anymore. The beef and broccoli had carrots and practically no beef or broccoli. The wonton soup was small for the dinner for three combo that we ordered, and the fried rice was stale and hard and not fries hat all. Defiantly will stop ordering here and go back to silver dragon which is more expensive but like the dating goes you pay for what you get.
I have never met chinese food I did not like but this is it! Dry no flavour rice and the sweet and sour chicken is plain slammed/coated with artificial flavoured sweet sauce. Spring rolls dont come with the deal.. Emulate Little City. This was supposed to make an easy Monday evening but No you did not make our day!
One of those hidden gems. The restaurant is a little hard to see and not all that appealing from the outside, but the food and service are fabulous. We had the dinner for two-A and it could have fed four people. The veggies were cooked but crisp. Nothing soggy here. Lemon chicken delicious and not overbattered. Rice was fluffy. If you want excellent Chinese food, this is the place.
Looking for the best Chinese food in town, and at the best prices? Look no further! And they have the friendliest service in the city, as well. I’ve been going to the Dragon Gate since 1985, beginning with their previous location across the street. I’ve moved farther away in Calgary, but I still make the journey here just for the food and service. Five stars for Dragon Gate!!
Hey you guys, Ordered all the classics from you today : ginger beef, chicken in black bean, Shanghai noodles Szechuan, chicken balls, egg rolls and wor won ton it was all excellent Classic cdn Chinese Thank you for doing a great job
If you like fried, you’ll love it! But if you try to get just regular leaner cooked meat, not sure what to order but I didn’t get what I expected and what I usually order at other places with the same names on the menu. Salt and pepper shrimps were fresh but again covered with batter. Garlic spare ribs were also deep friend and covered in the thickest batter. On top of that, they gave us one fortune cookie...not 2, at least? It’s not like I need those anyways but that just show how cheap they might be. That’s why I have my got to for Chinese food and I might stop trying some new places. I won’t be back here anytime soon.
My partner decided to get dinner here, ginger beef was amazing, and coconut rice was OK :Food: 5/5
