I cannot tare the quality and standard of care here enough. About 4 months ago, I for one reason and another developed a cataract. I went to an ER and was referred to an Ophthalmologist on the same day. This was a Sunday. A referral was done to Kensington Eye Institute and specifically Dr Rai. There are a lot of demands on our public health system and COVID has put a strain on things. But I was seen with care, total professionalism and empathy. Treated always with dignity and respect. From those at ease with surgical procedures to those that are not at ease the care and service and quality were consistently high. After my surgery, where again I was impeccably treated, made to feel so cared for I came home. After about 2 hours, Dr Popovitch, a doctor who spoke to me once, to assure me all was well, called me at home to ask how I was with such kindness and and again so much professionalism. I was overwhelmed at how consistently quality and patient the care and attention was. Always keeping me informed. Treating me like I was an equally important part of the decision making in my own treatment and care. The nurses were experienced and phenomenal. The front desk staff the same. As an aside while I was waiting for surgery in that 4 month period, I decided I would visit privately run laser eye clinic. They saw me, ran tests, sent me to Mount Sinai. I duly obliged, and went to my appointment had tests run and I never heard from them again. I found out, through my experience with Kensington Eye Institute that my cataract was not atypical, and so they simply didn’t call me back. The moral of this review, keep healthcare public and free at the point of access. The standards and levels of care offered not based on whether you can pay, or that they can get you through quickly, but on what you need matters. It can’t be profit driven, this will always be the most necessary part of keeping all of our communities healthy and thriving. Thank you Kensington Eye Institute for improving the quality of my life in indescribable ways. The service demonstrates why there is nothing better than our public system of healthcare.
I had cataract surgery on my left eye about 2 weeks ago. I’m only 53 but developed a cataract in my left eye that left me basically blind in that eye. I could see shapes and light and color but everything was blurry beyond recognition. I feel my surgery went pretty much perfect. No pain or irritation at any time. All the staff that I dealt with were excellent and very professional. DR Amandeep Rai was/is my surgeon also doing the other eye and my result as of today is 20/20 vision in the fixed eye for distance…. from legal blindness just 2 weeks ago. To say I am pleased with the result is an understatement. Cheers.
At age of mid 40, had my first cataract surgery at this location. Thx to the team for your professional and warm caring. Only translator is allowed to go with you. I don't need a translator myself, but will definitely be happier if my wife can be allowed to come with me and stay outside of the operation room. They are quite busy and fully booked..My other eye surgery will be 1.5 mths later..hopefully there's earlier spot available so that I can have a pair of 'refresh' eyes for clear vision. BTW, they have good parking underground, but very hard to find spot.
I am seeing Dr. Christakis for the past 4 years. He is the best and has helped me improve my vision. Very friendly and energetic person. I was seeing him earlier at Toronto Western Hospital. The services from staff and nurses is good here.
It's the worst medical centre I have ever been to and staffed with arrogant UofT students whose questions were more like an interrogation, with no respect towards me as a patient. I hope the student that assessed me will learn from life to be more compassionate. I am a medical professional and have never treated my patients with such distance. Medical schools should change how they teach their students and enrich them with some humanity—an awful experience. And doctor Micieli spent two minutes with me while I waited for him for one hour and thirty minutes. I said goodbye twice, and the doctor did not even hear me. It's a conveyer belt, not a professional and compassionate care clinic.
Last week I had cataract and intraocular lens replacement surgery in both eyes performed by Dr. Rai and now I have 20/20 vision and am free from the burden of glasses and contacts! Many thanks to Dr. Rai and the Kensington Eye Institute team for your talent and care.
I was warmly welcomed by Joe. I was impressed by the infection control measures in place despite the efficiency of having so many folk going through the clinic daily. Staff were professional and kind! I had been initially quite nervous And I left grateful and trloevrd
I was sent to this place because I had optic neuritis due to Covid infection that caused me blurry vision. Waiting two and a half hours after driving one and a half hour to see Dr michilie to tell me, “there is nothing I can do!!! Try not to get Covid again.” Is this an answer really ?!!!
Had my cataract eye surgery yesterday at Kensington eye clinic Dr Yan and staff are amazing The clinic is like a spa and everything is very efficient and fast ! The recliner chairs are so comfy and I loved not having to transfer from them. Everyone in the OR were so friendly and I loved that Dr Yan had his music going. It sure didn’t seem like I had an operation at all. The best part is my vision Wow !! Everything is so crisp and clear The colours so vivid !! Looking forward to getting my second eye done as soon as possible !!! Thank you Kensington eye institute
This place is impossible to make an appointment with. Booking my first appointment took 5 calls and 3 emails. I was told I needed surgery and so far have emailed 6 times and left 4 voice messages and am getting no response. At this point I'm going back to my optometrist who referred me and asking for a referral elsewhere
