Kenai Riverfront Resort

My wife and I found this place on a whim during our honeymoon. We knew we wanted to see the Kenai area and wanted something with access to a good fishing spot. When we got to the Kenai Riverfront Resort, we were a little hesitant due to the surrounding area but as soon as we got to the office and met the Nelson family, we were instantly happy we gave it a chance. The grounds were beautiful, the riverfront was amazing, but the best part of it was the family. We were welcomed by the whole family at the door and treated us as if we were part of the family all along. Jim and his wife were very down to earth and pleasant to talk to. Their sons, TJ and CJ, were very respectful and helped us understand any nuances with Alaskan river fishing. The family was busy enough to not intrude on quiet time with my new wife but were more than willing to come fishing on the river with us whenever they had down time. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay at a beautiful riverfront area and interact with amazing people. We are definitely going to stay here again next time we are in the Kenai area!

Fabulous spot. Beautiful property right on one of the best fishing spots on the river. We Fished for Kings and Reds right from shore and we also chartered a boat an guide, caught a couple of 40lb King Salmons. You can also rent fishing rods and equipment, the expert fishing owners and sons showed us how to fish the river with success. Family run by a welcoming and super accommodating couple and their two sons. They helped us plan our one week stay with on and off site activities, including fjord boat tours and halibut fishing. We have been on the road for six weeks and this was by far our best week of our extended road trip. If you want a personalized experience this is a great spot.

Exceeded all expectations! My husband and I were booked to stay at another RV park close by but when we arrived, we were turned off by the "parking lot". Then we found Kenai Riverfront Resort and it was just perfect! Beautiful spot, right on the river, folks catching fish from the dock, nice fire burning, friendly hosts (family run and everyone was so helpful & courteous). We set up and stayed a week. Enjoyed the clean shower and sauna! Excellent fishing...caught 2 King Salmon right out front! Might have paid a little more to stay here but worth every dime! Hosts helped us book great charters in nearby Homer and Seward. Best stop yet on our 5 month trip!

By far this was the most incredible experience our family has ever had. We literally accidentally stumbled upon this resort and it was the highlight of our 1 month journey across North America. Our original destination was to Homer Alaska so we only slipped into the resort for one night. The next day we continued on our trip to Homer and Homer Spit. We stayed one night in Homer then because the whole family loved the Kenai Riverfront Resort, we went back to The Nelson family's and stayed a week. We even had our 17 year old son fly in from Atlanta just to have the opportunity to meet them and enjoy the Resort. The owners of this resort were amazing. The two young men CJ and TJ were incredible friendly, very knowledgeable, and extremely patient while showing my sons how to fish for salmon. From the very beginning they all treated us like we were lifelong friends. The entire host family was very much involved with making the Kenai River an unforgettable experience. We even tried some of their recipes from their website with the Red Sockeye Salmon my 12 year old caught off their dock. My children wanted to go back everyday of our long journey back home. Every day they would ask "Can we go back to Kenai?" My children will never forget Alaska and it is entirely because of Kenai Riverfront Resort and the incredible hospitality of the Nelson Family and their slice of paradise on the Kenai River.

Such a lovely family-friendly location to experience the real Alaska. We stayed at the Kenai riverfront resort for 1 night on the way to Homer. The owner was very accommodating since we just called in th day before. All of us especially the kids had an amazing time. We mad so many good memories here. Kids got to catch some fish.. really big ones too. The Nelson family were such amazing hosts who made us all feel at home. The location is the best on the Kenai river. We moved on to Homer. We had 3 days left in our 2 week vacation. We asked the kids which place would they like to go spend the next(last) 3 nights. They chose to go back to Kenai river front resort. So called Jim (the owner) and pulled back into our site. The next 3 days of fishing, campfire and pure relaxation at the location. Although we were in an RV, happened to checkout their guest suites. They were cozy and comfortable with an amazing view of the river and property. This is a top of the bucket list item for anyone visiting Alaska.
