A nice place to learn about the wildlife of the Kenai Peninsula. Did you know there were no laws concerning harvesting animals until about 1902? Before that anyone could shoot, buy, or sell just about any animal they could get.  Hands on exhibits let you get in touch with the surrounding nature, like the feel of real bears fur.  Facilities have restrooms and water.  Playground: No.  Restrooms: Yes.

Fun education center. Great trails to a pothole lake. Take bug spray. Cute gift shop. Elsewhere in the refuge are trails to hike. This one pictured was 4 miles round trip to a skilak lake overlook. Was moderate difficulty. Beautiful vista.

Made me 2021. Lots of great hiking. A significant portion of the area we have been through though was devastated by the 2019 wildfires.

Friendly staff. Even offered free bug spray before the nature walk.

This place has a great interactive exhibit about the refuge and some trailheads to get you out in the refuge. Its a good place to bring friends and family when they're on the peninsula

The education center was really informative. The hiking trails are well maintained.

Great place to read about how the Kenai wildlife is kept safe and sound

Great time on a quick, short walk down to the observation deck!
