Our regular Chinese food place was closed today, so why not try the local 10-star on Skip and 4.5 on Google place, we thought. I will start with the good - my wife said the lady she picked up from was very friendly. As many have said here, the portions are generous. They included fortune cookies! Unfortunately, the list of not good is much longer as the food left a lot to be desired. Chicken balls tasting of old oil in a soggy coating. To their credit, the portion of chicken inside was decent. My wife did not enjoy the sweet and sour sauce, while I thought it was okay. The Shanghai noodles appeared to have a nice amount dark soy sauce on them, but they were completely flavorless. The special fried rice was almost too salty to be edible, which was a shame because it had quality chunks of meat/shrimp in it. The shrimp and vegetables pictured was probably the most disappointing - as shown in the picture, the shrimp were not properly cleaned. For those who don't know, that brown line is the anatomical equivalent of a shrimp's intestine and these curly pink fellows were full of it. Gross. The sauce was also oddly sweet and the veggies were mushy. I didn't try the dry pork ribs we also got, the missus said they were okay. I much prefer to leave good reviews and this place has a very high rating so I am baffled, but I don't think I will gamble another $85 on whether or not it was just a bad night for the chef.
First time visiting Kaiming's and was impressed by the large portion sizes and reasonable price. I order the soy sauce chowmein plus spring rolls and enjoyed my meal thoroughly. Again the amount of food you get for the price is very good and the food is tasty. My spring rolls were light and flavorful while not being overly greasy. My chowmein was so much I will be saving this for later which I feel is a great bonus 2 meals in 1!. The food was hot when I picked it up and the chowmein noodles had a nice flavor to them. Overall I really enjoyed my meal and if I was in Edmonton again this would be a spot I would return to for another good meal.
This is a charming little restaurant serving good Chinese Food. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but we were greeted with a smile and seated promptly. A woman served us our water whe seemed like the matriarch of the family, didn't speak much English but was very cute and friendly. Our food was served hot with a smile and had a nice family meal together. The prices were reasonable and we will return.
Great meal and home style feel, not a large restaurant however a hidden gem off the beaten path, seems busy with pickup orders. It was a quiet restaurant, good for a get together with a few friends. Thanks.Food: 5/5
Had this place for take out, it was amazing food. I was blown away with the ginger beef. I would recommend to try it!. Very kind when I went inFood: 5/5
Ordered from here and man was I blown away! Most Chinese food places are way to salty which causes for one to be so thirsty when eating there. But this place was 10/10. I will definitely be going backFood: 5/5
It’s a place where the food is so good there’s nothing to take home! Plan to wear your comfy pants. With how busy they were phone ringing off the hook plus seeing a dozen or more Skip the Dishes bags walk in the staff was still very hospitable and our waitress was still amazing amazing. This is one of Edmonton’s hidden gems!!!! Thank you for the experience.
Friendly staff, great flavors and sauces. Impressed by the quality! Fair prices. Our go to Chinese place! Also very easy to order online and get text updates.
Without a doubt the best Chinese takeout I’ve had. I don’t know if they use less grease or what but I almost feel healthy shoving shrimp fried rice and their Szechuan chicken down my gullet. 10/10
I highly recommend eating at Kaiming’s Kitchen for lunch or dinner! All of their food is so delicious, all home cooked with great portions. Hands down my favourite Chinese food place in Edmonton. The food is always so quick to get to the table and service is great. She always makes sure you’re cup is filled and you’re enjoying your meal experience. Definitely eat here you wont regret it!
