I've come here 2 times now but both were quick and on a ferry wait time frame. Visit one we just had cocktails along with the chips and salsa very tasty salsa that was a great visit. Visit 2 was also good but I wish the French toast was cooked a bit more, it's closer to a bread pudding than French toast. I'd remove a star but I can't remember if the menu described the French toast this way or not and it was still was good. Anyway, I've had a pleasant experience here so far but both times were pretty quick visits so keep that in mind.
Great location with outdoor dining. Food is good but the prices are high for what you get. Chips and salsa are charged. Guacamole is pretty good but served in a dish that makes you think you are getting more. Ask for light ice in your drink or you will be disappointed. Super cool atmosphere, just need to either drop the price or increase the quantity.
I don't like writing negative reviews but unfortunately I must do so here. Not a great experience. We came in to celebrate a birthday on Sunday afternoon, July 31. They seemed short staffed and the service was quite slow and inattentive. We ordered drinks which were slow to arrive, and two of the drinks were not made as requested. The other drinks were correct and quite good. We ordered food and while most of the entrees were great, the $70 combo plate came with chicken that was so overcooked as to be inedible. We had to ask for cutlery and plates. We had arranged with two members of the service staff to put a special decoration on our friends birthday dessert but it arrived without the decoration, much to our disappointment. I feel like they need to better train their staff and better staff the restaurant.
Wonderful restaurant right next to the ferry landing. Food was reasonably priced and full portioned but it was the quality that blew our minds. The chili relleno is so delicate in flavor, the prawn tacos delightfully fresh. Check it out!
Great location right next to the Edmonds ferry. Perfect for lunch during the week because it’s not busy; plenty of seating inside or out . Good music which today happened to be hip hop, and not Spanish, and Spanish music would have been fine too. Server spilled a glass of water on one of us so I can’t give 5-stars but he was very apologetic and sorry. We sat outside at Kahlo’s and enjoyed the beautiful Spring weather before we got on the ferry for Kingston. The landscaping and plants are gorgeous.
Had been wanting to try out Kahlo's, and since we had a group of six figured a reservation was a good idea. We were seated promptly, and we liked the vibe and modern decor. Everyone liked their drinks. We went with the Asada Tacos and a Taco Salad. I enjoyed the street style tacos, the creme corn was tasty, but discovered Mexican white rice is, simply white rice. It just needed something else added to it. The Taco salad was tasty but adding chicken is an extra charge. Our server was polite and friendly, but stretched thin. Seemed like they needed more staff. He was serving and bussing. Almost felt he had to work kitchen too. Ticket time ran past 30 min. and never got water refilled. We had great conversation going, so the wait wasn't a big deal. Prices seemed reasonable, but shouldn't chips and salsa be complimentary? Overall it was a fun evening, and we left satisfied.
The food is waaay overpriced, the flavor is lacking especially in the carne asada! I paid $35 for a carne asada quesadilla, guacamole and chips! What I received was more like half a quesadilla, very disappointed! But the bathrooms were beautiful and very clean and the dinning atmosphere was pretty chill plus they expedited my order so that I could make it to the ferry on time. And for those reasons I’m willing to give it another try if I’m in the Kingston area again.
Was pleasantly impressed by Kahlo’s Cantina. Always looking for great Mexican food and the bar is pretty high considering I grew up with countless authentic options in San Antonio. Kahlos did not disappoint. Very flavorful food with a great menu. Excellent service and views of the Puget Sound to top it off. Will definitely be back for dinner. Add it to your list!
Pretty good but not a destination spot. I had the shrimp tacos and they were served cold and the tortillas stick to the metal holder making this a very messy ordeal. You get 2 small tacos and 2 sides, the pineapple coleslaw sounds good but has zero flavor, basically mayonnaise over cabbage. The corn was good and was served piping hot.
Let me start with the observation that many 1 star reviews of this place are just odd and suspicious at best. The place is exceptionally clean and modern, staff is very friendly and food is very tasty and served in a elegant way. The restaurant serves a modern Mexican cuisine, and meals are large enough to easily satisfy your hunger, but not as massively big as in many Mexican restaurants, which is a big plus. The quality of the meal is great, the meat or fish is done just right, making it soft and juicy. The herbs, spices and cheese used to finish sides boosts the flavor and make even their french fries stand out compared to places nearby. Definitely looking forward to dining here again.
