Story

I am a general surgeon who subspecializes in breast and breast cancer surgery. I completed medical school and residency in general surgery at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I came to South Dakota when I was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base in 1994. My husband, who is also a physician, began practice in Rapid City at that time. We enjoyed the area, so after my commitment to the Air Force we decided to make this our home.

I received my subspecialty in breast surgery about fifteen years ago. I began practicing at a time when breast surgery was advancing to become minimally invasive. I decided to subspecialize to learn the variety of new techniques coming out at the time. I still do general surgery while on call at the hospital but my clinic is dedicated primarily to breast conditions.

My clinic now features the BeYOUtiful Bratique, a bra fitting boutique specifically tailored to breast cancer survivors. Our certified mastectomy fitters employ their care and expertise to help survivors find funky, fun bras that restore confidence and make women look and feel “beYOUtiful!”

It’s too late to rate the great Dr Julie Raymond. It’s impossible to describe what she had done to me and to my family. The level of care, the unparalleled passion, professionalism and thoughtfulness were amazing and unbelievable. We have not seen in our entire life any professional like her. She became very close to us and to my family who adored her as a true doctor and human being. This is one of the saddest days of our lives. You will greatly missed and forever. RIP Julie with all the saints in heaven…
Julie was the best. The brightest shining star that I've met and it was a privilege to have known her.
I rarely write reviews, but after seeing the one-star review left by another patient, I felt I needed to provide another point of view. Dr Raymond is an incredibly caring provider; she opened her office during a late season blizzard so her patients would not have to wait for their appointments. I was one of those patients: I had been diagnosed with breast cancer a week before my appointment with Dr Raymond, and spent seven days anxiously wondering about the results of the several tests I had endured since my diagnosis. Because she opened her office without staff - she was there on her own, I was able to find out more and start to make a treatment plan, and most importantly, I was able to feel like I had a little control again.
If I could leave 0 stars I would. The staff is rude, dimissive of concerns, and unwilling to listen to the fears or concerns of the patient. If you have a mass on/in your breast they play god and decide who should be worried and who shouldnt. Incredibly unprofessional
I was recently seen by Dr. RAYMOND & HER STAFF, they are very professional caring people, that make you feel comfortable when going through some scare and not so confortable situations.
I had my first office visit with Dr. Raymond. She was great took her time with me to make sure all questions were answered.
