Was told nothing about a final bill until almost 6 months after moving homes… they claim they sent a letter in the mail. They did not. The bill was almost $200, when it was usually about $60-$70 a month. Our last month living in our previous apartment we used way less electricity so how is it so high??? Tried setting up a payment plan with them but the woman on the phone wasn’t even in the office so i have to wait for a call back. Stupid
Received a lovely phone call as well as a letter in the mail for a past due statement that was supposed to have been autopulled returned their "lovely" call and they have no record of our autopay on file when it's pulled every other month the icing on the cake? We're in winter months so it's illegal to turn off our electricity as it's our primary heating source AND we have an infant in the home. Try it again and we'll be serving you with lawsuit paperwork!
Tasha in customer support does a wonderful job of being condescending and rude when it's the systems fault my payment didn't go through. No phone call or anything they just cut my power and charged me a reconnect fee for the 4th time. I would rather go without power than deal with them again.
If you have to use them prepare to have the worst time trying to set up automatic payments. They lied and said they were set up but no automatic payments ever went through. Finally closed our account with them and were told twice that there was only one more final bill. I can't tell if they are genuinely mismanaged or just trying to scam people. Either way do not recommend them.
Amazingly about mid month I had sent out a notice as to your electrical use and what might be the cost of that. Gives you a little time to cut back on some of the things that you are using and excess! I’ve never had an electric company do that before and I really appreciate it.
until yall decide to work with yalls customer and stop overcharging people i wont give more then one star. and the fact that yall refuse to do anything about a payment plan till the account is past due is ridiculous....i really wish i could go sollar cause yall have gotten ridiculous with prices.....we havent even been cold enough for a bill like this again.... usually our bill is 160-170s not over 200.....and our hvac is old 3-4ish years old..... so what gives.
The absolute worst in customer service. In an era where empathy towards the customer is supposed to be king, Jones-Onslow Electric operates with impunity and utter disregard for the livelihood of their customers. This morning ten large trucks showed up and parked all over our properties, blocking a significant amount of access. Several houses are being built at the end of our neighborhood, and a service upgrade needs to occur. On top of it, they knocked on our door and informed us they needed to cut power to several houses to complete the upgrade. When asked why we weren't notified of a service affecting change; the supervisor stated that they are not in the business of informing residents about planned outages and upgrades. He said, "think of it like someone ran into a transformer and damaged it, you would not have power, and we would have to repair it all the same." Jones-Onslow is aware of the situation and could have notified us via email, text, phone call, or regular mail, but they did not. My wife and I work from home full time and are in meetings all day. We cannot afford unplanned but planned outages. With notice, we could easily have changed our schedules for that day, gone off-island to a coffee shop, or worked around it. You may be a monopoly, but it does not give you the right to act like a bunch of fools—shameful corporate behavior.
My husband and I have been with Joemc for about a year now and in all honesty they have been amazing! Customer service could definitely use some work but than again customers aren’t always the best either! But I had just called due to power being out and I swear within 10 minutes of me calling to inform them, boom it was back on they had guys out here and fast Richlands area I’ve never had an electric company do that before!? It’s usually a nightmare!
Been using them for service for years and always have had great service with limited to no down time during storms. Yesterday an employee wearing the JOEMC shirt and driving their work truck, payed for my children's slushies at the circle K on Wilmington hwy. The computers were down and I was going to have to walk out because I had no cash and he handed me $6 to pay. My kids and I were blown away, didn't catch his name but we are so thankful for this professional company and their wonderful employees!
Ok so obviously it's a utility company & no one is going to be 100% happy with it but let's be real either go 100% solar or don't complain. JOEMC has been our electric company for as long as I can remember. They have always been very good to both myself & my entire family; maybe it's the last name idk. We live is a very rural area or at least my Padgett portion does & they are always very fast to respond to any & all service calls. During hurricanes we understand that it may a bit longer due to us being so rural but the linemen bust their tails to get all of us service as quickly as possible. People tend to forget that during those times the linemen have to wait for the tree guys to remove all tree hazards & debris before they can do their job. Yes, prices tend to go up... prices of everything does... hello... so stop complaining & learn to conserve energy or like I said go 100% solar. I personally am extremely pleased with our service & am thankful for all that these men & women do.
