John Derek Designer Jewellers

We have gone to John Derek's a couple of times now. Once for watch batteries which are done while you wait and the last time to have three of my wife's rings resized. The resizing took only two days from start to finish and when we got the rings back they looked better than new. Though John's jewelry store is not big you will find some truly amazing jewelry you won't find in any other jewelry store. All uniquely designed. Thanks for the great service. We'll be back

Went in to have a watch battery replaced and was treated with dignity and respect. Had very little time to browse while I waited because it barely took him 5 minutes to fix. I did spy so many beautiful treasures and look forward to going back soon.

I didn’t know where to take my ring when I lost a Diamond. I found John’s jewelry store online. I found John so very knowledgeable and honest. He told me a few things about my ring I did not know, which were all very good things. When I got my ring back it looked better then I have ever seen it. John will now be my go-to Jeweller! I have an heirloom engagement ring that needed repairs. The main stone Sapphire had a chip in the girdle edge and I was worried that the repairs to the side stones would crack the main stone in the process. I went to many jewellers and the majority of shops would have to send my ring away for weeks, in some cases out of country, for repairs. In the shops where I could actually speak to the goldsmith, many did not feel confident they could make the repairs without cracking the main stone. I’d walked past John’s window and watched him work a few times, read his reviews and then decided to pop in. He wowed me. His experience and knowledge put me to ease right away. His quoted turn-around time for the repair was one day and his quote was up to 60% less than some of the other quotes I’d received. I felt so confident in John that in addition to the repairs, we did a re-design of the mount of the main stone. John perfectly captured what I had in mind. He did a subtle change, but the chip is hidden, the mount of the main stone is more secure and the side diamonds are firmly in place. My ring was only in the shop for four business days and it was wonderful to get the best service and outcome while shopping locally.

I have had the claws replaced on my heirloom engagement ring and now had it fused together with my wedding band. John is amazing and truely enjoys working on jewelery. His prices are very reasonable. He has saved me the potential heart break of either loosing the stone or the entire ring. Thank you John for your great work and ethical standards. John D. crafted a set of earrings from a bit of heavy silver chain my husband bought me for Xmas - he framed the links in a clever silver wishbone with the overall effect resembling a fish with silver scales. I just love them!!! When I had examined the earrings a little closer I could see that the silver wishbones were balanced to perfectly frame the 4 silver links.... the craftsmanship was excellent. I also like the hooks - so smooth and comfortable thru my ears. So I certainly appreciate how you think of these little things. John and CJ also re-set my diamond engagement/wedding ring in more secure posts after one Qualicum Beach jeweller botched it and set a loose diamond into a gold link chain that is now quite elegant. John is certainly a highly skilled artisan, reliable and diligent .... I'm lucky to have found him! He will get all my business from now on. ;- Valerie L.
