Janette's Spicy Island

I tried their jerk chicken in the past has a nice kick to it . Love their king fish plate and you get a good portion my favorite place to get king fish from.

I think this was the best roti I've ever had in my life and I've been an avid roti fan for 25 years. I've lived in Toronto for over 10 and tried every reputable roti spot in Toronto, Scarborough and Rexdale - this is the best one. The dhalpuri roti skin is perfect - so fresh, soft and flavourful - hands down the best roti skin in Montreal. I had the bone-in goat roti and the chicken - these curries are sublime. Perfectly tender meat in a thick, unctuous and flavourful curry with a kick. You can see the sprigs of fresh thyme and the tiny pieces of scotch bonnet pepper. You don't really need hot/pepper sauce but there's is so delicious I couldn't resist and my lips are still feeling it. There's also no shortage of meat in these rotis - it's mostly meat which a few pieces of perfectly cooked potato. Everything is a really great size. I also tried the jerk chicken - super moist and flavourful like all the other reviews say. The rice and peas are fairly unique from your typical Jamaican spot - much more rice than pea and much softer and wetter than the standard rice and peas which are often too dry. But the coconut flavour of this rice is the best I've tasted. Plantains cooked perfectly. Lastly, tried the oxtail - also super delicious and stewed perfectly - maybe could use a bit more gravy but the flavour was so great and the rice is so moist that it was not missed. Really the best West Indian food in Montreal, hands down and giving Toronto a legit run for its money. Thanks Janette and team.

Today my boyfriend and I had the pleasure to eat take out from janette’s Jamaican restaurant. First off let me say that the owner was very hospitable, the portions were extremely generous and most of all the food was absolutely delicious. Best Jamaican we’ve had thus far. Definitely recommended! A great bang for your buck!

Awesome taste, great customer service, good quality ingredients! The meatjerk chicken and goat curry is super tasty and tender, fried bread is made fresh! Rice is too mushy, but all in all a very good experience!! Recommended!Food: 5/5

The top Caribbean spot in town, Literally. Lady who owns the place is the sweetest, chef is a fantastic cook and the food is amazing. The price is right and the portions are very generous

Was craving for jerky chicken and stumbled to this place when googled it. OMG beef patties and chicken were the BOMB. I like how spicy patties and chicken was. I definitely recommend this place! A whole in a wall type of restaurant. Soo good!

Oh my God, oh my God, where was this restaurant, when I was growing up, of all of the west Indian, restaurants that I have been to. Janette spicy island, is the best in Montreal .maybe because, it's small and no seating only take out.and all of the west Indian restaurant should learn from janette. On how to treat your customers. Outstanding food. And FANTASTIC service.

I really like spicy food and I had never tried Janette's Spicy Island and am I ever glad I did, the chicken I had was done to perfection with the right amount of spice. You have to try their Jamaican Dumplings, they are out of this world. If you like spicy food, you must try this place, I guaranteed you will love it.

first time customer, and i will be back for more! the jerk chicken plate is amazing, everything was soo tasty and the plate is very generous. the staff was very friendly . i recommend this place to everyone. this is a great discovery. i am now a regular of this place
