Jamesville Beach Park

I go to Jamesville Beach for the dog park. Love this open space, off leash dog park. Not fenced in, so if your dog is a little nuts, has a high prey drive and will run forever after a squirrel, this might not be the place for you. It is not fenced in. Great place if you have control over your friendly dog who likes humans and other dogs. The dog park area is not good for walking a dog in a leash because other playful dogs will approach and the leash can tangle legs very fast. There are plenty of other acres at this area to walk on a leash without being in dog park without risking falls. If you have a tiny dog that you pick up and hold every time another dog approaches, this might not be a good fit for your dog either. It is where nice dogs can go and be dogs.

This beach has a dedicated off leash dog park opposite from the main park and beach. The dog park has a paved trail with large grass fields on both sides, this eventually leads to a natural trail which loops down to the creek.

Pretty nice place to allow your dog to run and play off leash. The two big open fields and a trail that runs adjacent to Butternut Creek are considered a unfenced "dog park". The beach and picnic/shelter areas are off limits to dogs. The dog park is very popular, and at times crowded. Most dogs (and owners) are well behaved, but there's always one or two that are overly rambunctious. I tend to go during off peak hours to avoid the crowds and associated issues. All in all it's a great place and there is nothing else like it in the state, at least not that I'm aware of.
