They do one thing - Steak Frites but man do they do that one thing! One of the best steaks I have ever had. The dessert we had was also one of the best we had ever had as well. Ambiance was fantastic, serving staff were very pleasant and helpful.
This place was great! Went with a friend and tried out the steak and frites. The service was phenomenal, our waitress was really nice and accommodating! The cocktails although expensive are also really nice and tasty. My only gripe with the place is that the steak was extremely salty, not sure if it was the butter we dipped into or the steak itself! The dessert is a must, we tried this chocolate cake but it’s always changing based on what they have!
A busy steakhouse with a simple concept based on the Parisian entrecôte style steakhouse. A set menu - walnut lettuce salad, sliced of steak with a sauce on the side and unlimited french fries. You can pick a dessert and the drink. That's it. The food was pretty good, our table was on the side and felt like an extra table put there to increase seating. There were three groups of people waiting for a their table. Had made a reservation. Fine for the experience and steak, a little expensive.
Read an article about J's Steak Frites and decided to visit. Reserving a table online was easy. It was a packed house but the vibe was great. Our service Andrei was wonderful. Not overdoing it but attentive. The food was delicious. Jad, the owner recognized him from the article, came and made sure we were taken care of. Overall it was a nice experience on a snowy Friday night. Note: Reservations up to 14 days in advance for maximum of 6.
fixed menu only. One of the best steak around the area. Wonderful salad with surprisingly good sweet baked Walnut. We order rare and medium rare, fantastic taste steaks with amazing Béarnaise sauce. And the bakery and bread is authentic French style which made by their wonderful onwer. Worth a try guys!
Came here on a Sunday. The service was quick and I like that you don’t have to make any decisions. Salad and bread basket was fine. They didn’t have soup that day. Got the 10oz medium rare steak. The steak was cooked to perfection and very delicious and tender. It came with a sort of bearnaise sauce that was good. The one downside to this was that the steak was cold and the candle did little to warm up the steak : it didn’t help that we were seated by the windows and it was very drafty in those seats. The meal came with unlimited frites. They were good and crispy but far too salty. The desert which is included in the price on Sundays was a honeycomb cake with raspberry coulis. It was a special Valentine’s Day thing so they had a cute detail with little rose petals, gold nuggets, and chocolate decoration to decorate our own dessert. It was cute! I would come back, but I’d probably eat my steak much faster to avoid it getting too cold.
The Staff at this location where amazing, sweet and helpful! Very Accommodating! I found the Space small but very cute location and not over packed. The Salad could use some more toppings, And the steak was yummy but wasn't anything rare or Exciting being the only item they cook and service! The drinks were a bit over priced But I maybe wrong as I don't often drink. Lastly I believe there menu could be updated to explain that the meal was not all you can eat it was only the fries** Vegetarian options: none Parking: Street parking on QUEEN no close p parkings Dietary restrictions: Limit customers if you dont eat meat *
Had a great time here! Straightforward concept where you don't really have to exert much mental effort in picking your food. Other than choosing between a soup or salad, you then get a well prepared steak to your liking and unlimited shoestring fries. The accompanying sauce is excellent and really enhances both the steak and the fries. Good atmosphere too, the music was surprisingly very chill and enjoyable. Would recommend to steak lovers.
There are two reasons why one would typically revisit a restaurant. 1- the service and friendliness of the staff and 2- the food. J's Restaurant is an example where yould want to go back for both reasons. Got to say, have been to many restaurants lately. Found that here the staff go above and beyond to try and help out, and not like a typical restaurant where you have one server, the entire staff is really helpful and willing to help out. The salad was unexpectedly really good, and the roasted walnuts were just amazing. The main was steak "obviously" medium well, cooked to perfection. The meat was really nice, just a bit on the greasy side for me. The non-stop supply of frites was the cherry on top of the icing in terms of the overall meal. And those "joie" condiments dispensers were absolutely cute. Unfortunately we were towards the end of the day, so weren't able to try out their desserts : Finally, shout out to Jad!! He made the whole experience much more memorable and enjoyable.
I don’t normally write reviews but this place really deserves one. It is the definition of a well-executed, top dining experience, in my opinion. This is a new location and is fairly lowkey and easy to miss. The interior is quaint and elegant, with brick walls and marble tabletops. As the name implies, J’s serves steak frites and only steak frites, in the form of a 3 course set that includes bread & salad, main and dessert. And they sure do it well - the steak is served to your liking on a candle-warmed dish. We had medium rare, and it is no exaggeration to say that it was one of the most tender steaks I’ve had in a restaurant. It’s no wagyu, but it comes close. Seasoning was on point as well, and the dipping sauce has a unique tanginess to it. They offer unlimited fries, and a fresh bread basket. Both were very good, but the dessert truly deserves a special mention. Apparently the dessert chef is Le Cordon Bleu trained, and it showed in the amazing chocolate brownie we had. Wine and beverage selection is extensive, and the atmosphere is fantastic. The entire catering team is dedicated to creating a great dining experience and it really shows. On the pricier side we spent around $70/person but was well worth it. I came from out of town to try this place and would absolutely visit again on another special occasion.
