Excellent spicy beef noodle soup! Everything we ordered spicy beef noodle soup, Chongqing noodle soup, panfried dumplings, and chicken wings were hot, fresh and delicious. The flavor of the spicy beef noodle soup was very fragrant. It's not too spicy IMHO and very flavorful. Beef was tender. Portion size standard for Naperville Chinese restaurants. The thick noodles have that QQ quality Chinese people love. Chongqing noodles were significantly more spicy. The thin noodles were straight and perfectly cooked. This is an oily dish it's supposed to be and I found the balance just right. Pork panfried Dumplings were a surprise hit. Plain exterior but very juicy and a solid staple. Chicken wings were generous in size, juicy, standard Chinese style flavor. These were good but not as uniquely outstanding as the other three dishes. J's kitchen may be my new favorite beef noodle soup place in this part of town. Highly recommend giving this restaurant a try! Restaurant is very clean and spacious. bathrooms were simple and clean.
Yes and yes. This place was delicious. I will be coming again. The spicy beef noodle soup was the best I’ve had in Illinois. The beef, in particular, was very tender and tasty.Recommended dishesJ's Signature Spicy Beef Noodle Soup
Not your usual Chinese food. The menu has a variety from mostly the north and west regions of China. Super delicious! We tried the braised pork rice bowls, shredded potato salad, spicy wontons, Sichuan dishes, lamb soup, beef wonton soup, fried chicken strips and naan! Everything was favorable and well prepared. Sweet and sour plum juice was nostalgic. Friendly service. Clean simple decor. We will definitely come back. Halal menu available as well. Dietary restrictions: Halal menu available
Came out here for the first time, to celebrate a birthday and the staff is wonderful, helpful and super patient. Place was clean and brought out the food relatively quick. Will be back again! The dish in the picture is Spicy Beef Noodles w Soup Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options available Kid-friendliness: Family friendly restaurant Parking: Adequate parking spots
A great addition to Naperville area that serves chinese food which is halal too. We have already tried some of their options and would love to explore more. And I also hope that they add more halal items to their menu. My only drawback is that the appetizers are pricey for what you get.
Not sure how we missed this place for last 6 months. Fantastic place.. food is awesome, especially their lamp soup. Lamp soup was hearty with good chunks of meat, no msg, with the chili oil ..yummmm.. got the lunch set, it came with appetizer, entree and a drink.. looks pricey but the quantity was lot and quality is good.. worth the price.. peach cheezo was delicious.. owner J was friendly and made sure we had everything.. went home with happy smile and happy tummy.. will definitely come again for lamb soup and try the other items in the menu.
J's Kitchen is a nice, new casual strip mall eatery with a quality Sichuan style Northern Chinese menu. You order with and pay the receptionist, find a table, and they bring the food to you when ready. They currently have a very attractive $15 lunch special deal 11am - 3pm which includes a starter, a main dish, and a drink. It's a great deal firstly because there's plenty of authentic and delicious food, and secondly starters alone can range from $5-$9 and main dishes from $12-$13. We both also had their plum juice for the drink which alone goes for $3. The starter with the lunch special is a smaller serving than the regular starter, but it's still a deal. So, the wife ordered their braised beef shank slices and garlic pork ribs over rice. I ordered their signature Sichuan style beef burger and signature spicy beef noodle soup but easy on the spice level. All of the meats were tasty and flavorful and the thick noodles in the soup were well made with a good fresh texture. The lunch special was also a particularly nice way for us to try a variety of their dishes. You can tell the dishes are fresh and made to order as there was a little bit of a wait and they came out piping hot. We were the only ones dining in at this weekday lunch time, but we did see several carryout orders not surprising given that they're located in a strip mall with a Jewel. The server/receptionist was friendly and the ladies working the open kitchen were visible at times. Their space is clean and airy. Check 'em out if you're having a hankering for good Sichuan style servings!
Clean and airy. Our waitress was very kind. *Cubed beef rice was very tasty ordered two extra to go *Shredded potato needs a bit of vinegar *The spicy noodle soup is numbing but the spice blend was average. The two large beef chunks were tender and well seasoned *The cucumbers salad not smashed * Plum juice a bit medicinal * Chinese burgers aiiii… the bun was off but the beef was tasty.
I’ve been looking for a good Chinese place in Naperville for 20 years. Some are better than others but nothing has wowed me until today. If you’re looking for the same dishes you can find at every other Chinese restaurant then J’s may not be for you although it has some typical dishes, but if you want something really exceptional give J’s a try. I normally over order at a new place hoping I’ll get one good dish. At J’s, it was hard to pick my favorite. The Chongqing Traditional Street Noodle was probably my favorite although the Beijing Noodle with Soybean Paste was a close second. The Marinated Tofu over Rice, while a simple dish was also very flavorful. Even the chicken fried rice was outstanding. I can’t wait to return to J’s and sample some more dishes. Also, if you are looking for a drink that is a little bit different try one of the cheezo teas. They sort of taste like a fruity cheesecake. I’m so happy to see a fantastic new Chinese restaurant in Naperville and I hope it’ll be around a long time!
I think this is my new favorite Chinese restaurant in Naperville. Food is very tasty and it’s good portion. We ordered J’s Signature Spicy Beef Noodles Soup - it has the perfect amount of spice! The beef is flavorful and juicy. I got the Lamb Soup with Bun — the broth is soooo good. I rarely found this type of lamb with bones, it was delicious! Also ordered the shredded potatoes strips and taro Peter with coconut milk — everything was great! Can’t wait to come back and try more options!
