Story

It's a Matter of Taste opened in 2006, beginning as a small catering company, to a full New American cuisine restaurant and bar on Union Lake. We have a full banquet center for private parties, and you can visit our carry-out for a great selection of wines and gourmet food to take home. Our restaurant has a local and intimate feel, whether you want to enjoy a cocktail at the bar, or drink and dine with friends on the patio looking out on the lake. Whatever your preference, we're happy to serve you and we hope to welcome you into the Matter of Taste family.

Very nice place sitting right on the water. It was my first time there and it was too cold to sit outside. However, the view was very pretty. I’m looking forward to going back what it is warmer. The food was excellent as was Service.

Just returned home from Easter Brunch which was very disappointing. Went last year and absolutely loved everything. First of all when you walk in the dessert table in the lobby was not clean and desserts looked sparse and messy. Also, so many people waiting and standing over the table did not seem sanitary. No pretty flowers or cute decorations for Easter. When seated at our table there was so much food on the floor from previous guests we moved to a booth over. The food line was extremely long and we finally reached the buffet several if not all of the serving dishes were empty and dried food remained . The buffet itself was so dirty with messy food and crumbs. Nothing was even warm. Complained to the manager who apologized and said he would take care of it. Decided to go upstairs which was better but not much. Sent back Bloody Mary twice because it was so spicy. On line Bloody Mary price was 5.00 but on bill the price was 10.00. Desserts were marginal but nothing extraordinary. Gratuity was added on which is also not mentioned on line and manager did deduct from the bill after complaining again. Have never complained at a restaurant about anything but this was Bad. Would definitely never return. Must say our waitress Jen was very sweet though.

My steak was marginal, fatty and not cooked properly. That being said... everything else was very good. Nice atmosphere, view, appetizers were excellent. Maybe it was just an off night on my steak. I would consider trying it again.

The wait staff is always great. They allow us to take our time and do not rush us through the meal. The food is always top notch and the scenery of Union Lake makes for a nice dining experience.

I went to the part where they have the carry out food the girl was really rude and not helpful it was very disappointing. I was hoping that this could be a place I could stop a couple times a week and pick some nice homemade food but the couple of things I got we're not very good they are sort of expensive for the quality of food they have its really subpar at best. If their food was good I wouldn't mind paying the price at all. I think you get what you pay for usually.
