**Istanbul Doner: A Culinary Gem on Denman Street** Upon the recommendation of my nephew and niece, I ventured into Istanbul Doner, nestled among the many donair establishments on Denman Street. Admittedly, I was initially skeptical. With the abundance of donair places in the vicinity, could Istanbul Doner truly offer a unique experience? My doubts were quickly dispelled. **Authenticity at its Best** The authenticity of the dishes at Istanbul Doner is unparalleled. The beef and chicken are not your typical processed fare. Instead, real slices of steak, marinated in-house, are used for the donair, ensuring a rich and genuine taste. The restaurant's commitment to freshness is evident, as they refrain from storing leftovers for the next day. The result? A beef donair that's succulent and flavorful, without the need for excessive dressings or spices to mask blandness. **Homemade Pita: A Game Changer** What truly sets Istanbul Doner apart is their homemade pita bread. It's a rarity to find donair shops that bake their own bread on-site, and this addition elevates the entire donair experience. The pita is reminiscent of what one would find in the renowned donair restaurants of Istanbul. **Diverse and Delectable Offerings** The Turkish Cabbage Rolls are a testament to the restaurant's culinary prowess, packed with flavor and substantial enough to be a standalone dish. The Cig kofte, while slightly spicy, is a delightful vegetarian option. Served as a lettuce wrap and drizzled with lemon juice, it rivals any meat dish in terms of taste and satisfaction. The Acili Ezme, a Mediterranean salsa, is a refreshing palate cleanser, and its popularity was evident as multiple groups placed orders during my visit. The pièce de résistance, however, was the homemade rice and milk pudding, "sultac." Garnished with pistachio and shredded coconut, it was the perfect sweet ending to our meal. A word of caution: the portion is generous, perhaps too much for even two to finish. And while the baklavas were tempting, I had to resist the allure on this visit. **Service with a Smile** The staff's warmth and hospitality further enhanced the dining experience. They graciously allowed me to photograph their delectable donairs, capturing the essence of their culinary artistry. Our food was served promptly, and we left with contented smiles, a sentiment echoed by fellow diners. **In Conclusion** Istanbul Doner is a testament to culinary excellence and authenticity. Their dedication to quality and genuine Turkish flavors is commendable. "Yorulma" and kudos to the team. I eagerly anticipate my next visit.
We really enjoy the food here. Not only is the staff friendly but the food is amazing. On top of that everything is halal. You will get your burger always freshly made. Taste is great and the meat is perfectly cooked. They have different portion for fries which is a plus. This location is small so most of the time it will take a waiting until you get a table but trust me it’s worth the wait. If they would move to a bigger location I am sure it would be always packed! Keep up the good work.
If you have not tried their doners you are missing out! This is the real taste of doner. Specially the beef doner is outstanding! Food is absolutely delicious and people are very friendly. The space is small and could get easily crowded so you may consider take-out.
Very cute little Döner shop. Very clean, nice staff. We got the chicken Döner, it was decent, very filling. I think it was over priced tho $16 plus tax just for the sandwich. A meal with fries and a pop came up to $23 There’s no parking so finding parking was pretty difficult. And no washrooms. But good experience over all.
Delicious Döner! This shop's Turkish döner takes you to a different world! The taste of the döner is exquisite, the meat is incredibly flavorful, and the spices provide a wonderful balance. The variety on the menu is also impressive. Furthermore, the staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. Our order was prepared quickly, and they patiently answered all of our questions. The cleanliness and organization of the shop are also commendable. We noticed how clean our dining table was. I would recommend this fantastic place to anyone who loves Turkish döner. They truly offer a satisfying and flavorful experience. I'm definitely considering visiting again!
The Chicken Dönar plate was a good portion but I found the chicken was under seasoned and not all that flavourful which is a pity cause the portion side was great. Expected a bit more depth of flavour, especially for the price.
I am not a fan of eating Donaire since all the one's I have tried is always dry, but this one is different. The meat was juicy and tasty. Once I took a bite, I didn't stop until I finished it. Servings was also big and nice to share. Will definitely be my to go Donaire place from now on.Food: 5/5
FINALLY vancouver has some DONER. Walked past and saw the new restaurant had to try, and it was the opening day! Talked to the owner and chefs who are all Turkish and very friendly. Food was amazing. Beef and Chicken Donor options meat is marinated and cooked perfectly tender and juicy. Lots of different options and vegetarian too. Looking forward to return and wishing them success
Authentic and over due addition to West End. Best Turkish kebab outside of Germany or Turkey. The house made pita is fluffy and light and the meat inside is moist and flavorful. Seemed a bit pricey until you saw the large portions.
