The International Academy (IA) is a nationally recognized all International Baccalaureate public high school serving 1,300 students from fourteen Oakland County school districts and students living in surrounding counties. The International Academy is one school with three campuses: IA East in Troy, IA Okma in Bloomfield Hills and IA West in White Lake.

Mission

The International Academy community, through the International Baccalaureate program, instills cultural appreciation and global citizenship while promoting personal development and a passion for learning.

Although my daughter is a sophomore at the IA, our experience has been nothing short of amazing. The IA model is designed as the "ideal" for high school education. This school is located in Bloomfield Hills, MI. You would think that the location and status (3rd in the nation and 1st in the state for academic achievement), would lend itself to a state-of-the art facility with the most modern equipment. This is NOT the case. One trip through the heaved parking lot would quell that theory. The structure is old and out of date, but the heart of the teachers and administration is as well defined as an Olympic Athlete. The core of this program is truly the hidden gem. The program is rigorous, and is not for the faint of heart . If, however, you have a serious-minded child who absorbs knowledge like a sponge and can handle a heavy homework load, then the IA may be the right choice for you. Add the fact that the school is incredibly inter-cultural/racial, and you have a great combination for a global learning environment for any advanced learner. This is by far one of Oakland Counties best-kept secrets.

Miss D and her staff are very professional. It is clear to see they care a great deal for the children in their care. I am impressed every time I visit to recertify their staff with their CPR and first aid training... A super great bunch!
