Simply put, this place exceeded my expectations. I thought it would be good but just as good as any other Italian restaurant. I was so wrong. For starters, we got the grilled zucchini and the heirloom tomato crostini and it is truly hard to pick between them. Both were fine amazingly well and my only gripe is that the zucchini was not served hotter. I would happily order either again. We shared a large plate of bucatini. It is very simply done. The three main features are el dente pasta that is a bit thicker than anything you find anywhere else, lots of pepper, and creamy complexity from Parmesan cheese. My mind wasn’t blown by the dish but it was still very good. The staff was friendly and helpful. The vibe was incredible and that has a lot to do with the small stuff use of the restaurant. I forgot to mention that the cocktails are definitely worth getting. That is a lot coming from me because I always order cocktails and regret it 90% of the time because they just taste of booze and nothing else.
Hands-down one of my top three restaurants in the Twin Cities. The menu changes regularly, and everything is seasonal, interesting, beautifully prepared, and delicious. The wine list is limited which I appreciate and carefully curated. The space can get a little loud, but it is cozy like your living room if your living room had an open kitchen in it. Bar program is, again, limited but top notch with both perfectly prepared classics and interesting modern cocktails. The service is personal, informal, and great. There is literally nothing not to love about Hyacinth.
Excellent food and service. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The flank steak was scrumptious and cooked perfectly. We enjoyed our experience very much.
Dined here for dinner and every dish is simple and perfect. Amazing the flavors they are able to generate with relatively simple ingredients I.e. celery being the focal point of one of their top dishes. Highly recommend and top 3 restaurant in St Paul.
Wow. That's about all I can say. Met a friend here to celebrate her birthday. We started with the fried potatoes and let me say, they were absolutely amazing. They were so crispy, but at the same time they melted in your mouth. The sauce was creamy and perfectly balanced the mountain of cheese on top. I got an amaro and it was so delicious. I had never even heard of one before and it was the perfect drink on throughout the meal. We also ordered the fried olives and these were salty little balls of amazing. Highly recommend. For the main course my friend got the fusilli with the pesto sauce and I have to say, best pesto I've ever had. I got the mezze manichi, perfect. The pork was melt in your mouth and the pasta was that perfect al dente texture that your teeth can really sink into. Of course we also got dessert, and opted for the semifreddo. I don't even have words for the perfect blend of airy meringue, crunchy hazelnut, and creamy cold semifreddo. The waitress was very friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu, both food and drink and made us feel very welcome. We had a great time and I highly recommend!
This is a very cute bistro style restaurant. We made reservations last minute and were able to do an early dinner. Service was attentive without hovering—we each had a pasta and shared the snap pea and burrata salad. The salad was amazing, really light yet well seasoned. The pastas were both good—very much a homemade feel. They were good but not great, but I’d like to return and try out some of their entrees. Considering the tip is factored into the prices, the prices are pretty fair here. Finally, I should mention the decor is wonderful, really simple but cute. Would definitely visit again!
Really enjoyed having dinner here. I appreciated that the menu was small and focused on seasonal items. I had an eggplant parmesan that was very classicly flavored and perfectly seasoned. The appetizers were also focused on summer produce which was great. A final note is that the restaurant pays a living wage, so there are no tips which can make the menu look more expensive than you might expect on first glance.
Every time we’ve been here, it’s been unbelievably good. We always sit at the bar closest to the kitchen. We watch a symphony of food being prepared. The chef will always have a bit of time to chat and answer questions about how they do what they do. Bravo!
Amazing food and atmosphere. It's a smaller restaurant with only a handful of tables, and the noise level is just right. It feels busy, but not too crowded even when full. Our waitress was nice and knowledgeable and provided good recommendations. The cacio e pepe was perfect as was the bucatini with shrimp and saffron. The soft polenta was amazing, and the farinata think chickpea crepe with rosemary and garlic was excellent. This is one of, if not the best, Italian restaurants in Saint Paul.
First time at hyacinth and it was amazing! The tasting meal we had was perfect. The burrata and the Cacio e pepe were my favorite. The staff were knowledgeable about all the dishes and we had great interactions with them. A great server can make or break a meal and they were awesome! They also all wore masks, gloves, and had tables social distanced. Will for sure be venturing here again!
