I'll be honest, we were disappointed when we drove up to Hotel Newstar... but looks are deceiving. The room was very nice and secure, service was impeccable in English thank you! and French, and the restaurant served delicious food. When we had a small issue, they fixed it right away. The beds were amazing and we slept great while there!! Easy to find and right off the highway. Good amenities within walking distance.
I had asked for extra towels to be delivered to me room, they were never delivered.nnThe sink drained extremely slowly. The last morning there, there was actually some black junk that backed-up into the sink. I suggested some Draino.nnThe breakfast was good, staff was pleasant, but housekeeping was questionable.
Hotel is old and smells like smoke in every hallway and room.nRoom was dirty see picsnI requested a change of rooms on the 1st night and was simply ignored my message was never repliednSee room pictures and decide yourself.nDO NOT RECOMMEND and will never come back
A terrible experience. I don't understand how a hotel can be so dirty. The room we booked had a sofa bed with a dirty mattress, covered in dust and stains. We complained at reception and they changed our room. They gave us a room with two beds, which already made us uncomfortable because the initial idea was for our teenage son to sleep on the sofa bed and not with one of us. We arrived late, so I just turned down the beds and checked that the sheets were clean, but I noticed a very unpleasant smell in the room, like something musty I finally realized it was cigarette smoke. The next day, after resting a bit and with daylight, I noticed disgusting details: stains on the toilet on the outside walls, dust everywhere, mold on the walls, and stains of dubious origin on the headboards. I complained at reception about the smell and asked them to at least disinfect, but they ignored me.nJust because a hotel is cheap doesn't mean it has to be dirty. I wasn't looking for luxury, but the least I expect is hygiene and not to get sick. I got sick. We all got sick. We ended up vomiting on the last day. I can't say for sure it was the room, but it's a strong possibility.nThank God we were visiting family and only used the hotel at night and on the last day when we were sick, but it was the first and last time. We'll never go back.
I booked this hotel specifically because it advertised a kitchenette, but the experience was very disappointing. A few days before checkin, I messaged the hotel to ask whether cookware and dinnerware were supplied. They replied that they were not, which is why I brought my own pot and pan, and dinnerware. However, nowhere in their response did they mention that the stovetop was induction only. Induction stoves are specialty stoves - not the standard that are in the majority of homes. When we arrived, none of our cookware worked, making the kitchenette essentially unusable.nnThis was especially frustrating because the hotel had a clear opportunity to inform us in advance after I specifically asked about kitchen supplies. I think this information should absolutely be disclosed clearly to guests beforehand.nnI was also surprised by the towel situation. When I requested fresh towels, I was told the hotel does not replace them and that I could use the paid laundry facilities instead. I have never stayed at a hotel where basic towel replacement was refused. However, when my husband asked on three different occasions, he was given towels without issue. After he spoke to the front desk about the treatment towards me, staff said the towel issue was a “misunderstanding” and the stovetop concern was brushed off entirely.nnWhat made the experience worse was that no compensation, apology, or meaningful effort was made to resolve the inconvenience caused. Overall, the stay did not meet expectations, especially considering the advertised amenities.
