I stayed in this hotel for two weeks as an interim to securing a condo long term. Be warned, the pictures are very out dated and deceiving. The floor is peeling though out the room and cleanliness of the washrooms was very questionable. This hotel has aged poorly and it's hard to maintain I would imagine. My bed was clean thankfully and the A/C was working.nI wouldn't not recommend this place for any families or single ladies as the characters around this hotel are very questionable. Also, after looking after multiple previous reviews, this location has a history of stolen cars so that's something to note as well. Overall, 2/5
The room was clean and comfortable. It had air conditioning, and I didn't experience any noise issues during my stay.nThe property consists of several buildings. The entrance to my building had a very unpleasant smell because the carpet was damp and dirty from people coming in with wet shoes during the rain. Since the entrance area has no windows or ventilation, the odor lingered. I would strongly recommend replacing the carpet with wood flooring or another type of hard surface.nThe location is about a 30-minute walk from Old Montreal, so it's not especially close. However, the surrounding area has great Italian restaurants, a nice park, and a market, which made it a pleasant neighborhood to stay in.nOverall, I had a positive experience.nThey have parking lot and they will request 150$ as security deposit that I wasn't informed ahead.
Overall, our stay had both positives and negatives. The location was excellent and made getting around very convenient, and the restaurant exceeded our expectations with great food and service.nnUnfortunately, the hotel itself wasn't prepared for the number of guests, despite having advance notice that a large group would be staying that week.nnThe cleanliness of the rooms was below what we expected, with floors that clearly needed more attention. There were also reports of bed bugs within our group, which is a serious concern.nnOn top of that, there were several maintenance and technical issues throughout the hotel that weren't resolved in a timely manner, creating unnecessary inconvenience for guests. Basic supplies such as toilet paper and towels were also in short supply, and it took far too long for them to be restocked.nnIt's disappointing because this hotel has a lot of potential. The location and restaurant are definite strengths, but the housekeeping, maintenance, and overall preparedness for large groups need significant improvement.nnWith better planning and attention to guest needs, the experience could have been much better.
I'll be honest, we were disappointed when we drove up to Hotel Newstar... but looks are deceiving. The room was very nice and secure, service was impeccable in English thank you! and French, and the restaurant served delicious food. When we had a small issue, they fixed it right away. The beds were amazing and we slept great while there!! Easy to find and right off the highway. Good amenities within walking distance.
The lobby does not offer complimentary coffee or water, which is something commonly available in many U.S. hotels. The hallways had an unpleasant smell, which was disappointing.nThe room itself was clean, and the bed sheets were fresh. However, we encountered cockroaches and ants in the room, which was a major concern.nHousekeeping is only provided upon request rather than as a daily service. The shower area is very small, and as a result, water accumulates on the glass door. When opening the door, the excess water spills onto the bathroom floor, leaving it very wet.nnOverall, while there are some positives, the cleanliness issues and lack of standard amenities need improvement.
