I ordered the hot cheese fried chicken for takeout and it was pretty good! The portion is huge and super filling so it’s perfect for those with a big appetite. I ended up sharing it with my boyfriend and we both really liked the flavour and thought it had a nice spice to it I got medium spice. It was a bit salty but still good and the cheese helps to balance it out. It is kind of pricey so I wouldn’t get it all the time but it’s nice as an indulgent treat once in a while.

Since August, I would buy a large fried chicken every single day because it is my favourite take out food to this day. I tried all flavours spicy, curry, plum, seaweed, salt and pepper and they're all delicious. I have went at least 15 different days in the one month alone. The batter is crispy and not greasy while the chicken meat is juicy. I have made my friend and her family tried it and they loved it too! The best place to get protein after a gym workout. I have started a diet recently so I am missing this place everyday since the beginning of September. I will visit again on my cheat meal day. I love this place a lot.

One of my favourite Taiwanese chicken place. When I used to work downtown I would always stop by and get their Hot Cheese Chicken with Seaweed Powder and was really heartbroken when that spot closed down so this really made me happy when they opened one closer to home. People, be careful of this place, if you're not paying attention, your belt won't be fitting as well. I've had this every week for the past few weeks. Once this chicken gets a grab or you, it's not letting go. This is a very kwispy crispy and juicy chicken. The kwispiest I've ever had. I usually get the original with medium spice and curry and some popcorn chicken, the spiciness sometimes makes you sweat and blow your nose every few seconds, but man there is no stopping, because it's so well seasoned, it's not just the batter that is well seasoned but the chicken has some sort of five spice. I'm also impressed at how well it travels, sometimes a lot of fried chicken gets soggy after traveling, but this one stays kwispy. I've also had the mushroom with is very good, and had the lychee, rose drink which was a little sweet, but very good. The space is brightly lit, looks very clean and service is great. They take some time to serve the food, but that's completely understandable because they make it to order, nothing prefried. The parking can sometimes be a little tough. I suggest calling ahead and then pick up the food.

The chicken WAS SO GOOD the seasoning was spot on and the texture of the breading was nice and crunchy, it just felt so good taking a bite. Not to mention the GIANT piece of chicken. I was very satisfied and full after just eating the original. The interior is also really aesthetically pleasing. The staff was also super friendly and even gave me a discount because I currently work at Poke Poke nearby. Overall 11/10 I'm coming back tmrw Edit: bought another one today like I said and I still want another okay say less I'm coming again tmrw

We love Hot Star. After having first tried it in Taiwan and then again in MTL, we couldnt wait for a location to open up close to us. It has been a few years since we last ate it but it didnt disappoint. We will be coming back here frequently. Food was great tad salty but they said to let them know next time we want less salt and they can accommodate Drinks were great Service fantastic Super clean including the washroom. Parking: Parking right out in front.

We went in for a quick snack and we ordered the Korean large fried chicken and the spicy large fried chicken with specialty bbq sauce. The darker one is the spicy chicken. Both were delicious, chicken was moist and the flavours were very good. The chicken was so big we had to take it home to eat for another meal since it’s pure chicken meat. I would go back to try the other flavours and the other chicken dishes! The store is very clean since it’s new and the staff are very nice. We also ordered the fries, forgot to take a picture, they had cavendish fries so they were big and super crispy. Highly recommended!

Overall the chicken was okay. The signature bbq chicken could have been more flavorful. To my surprise the yam fries were probably the best thing i had from here.

We have been waiting for this place to open since we saw the signs last year and finally it's here! We got the Korean large fried chicken, Spicy popcorn chicken, Plum sweet potato and Blue Curacao yogurt drink. Everything was extremely delicious. The Korean large fried chicken was juicy and crispy. The sauce was very similar to Yang-Nyeom. Amazing! Thr Spicy popcorn chicken was also delicious and crispy. Quite spicy but good! The Plum sweet potato was one of our favorites. It was crispy and soft on the inside...so good! I recommend getting it as a side. It has a Plum sauce flavor to it in the form of powder sprinkled on it. The Blue Curacao drink was also fantastic and a personally recommended drink! All I can say is....just try it! If you like Yakult type drinks you'll love it! The staff was very friendly. The girl who served us was so kind and welcoming. She asked us how our food was at the end! The inside of the joint was nice and clean. Overall we would order all the same items again. We definitely will be back! A must try!

Before you buy it, you think, it's just sauce on deep fried chickens, how can it go wrong? It would taste good even you deep fry your shoe and put store bought sauce on it. However, unexpectedly, they managed to make these things extremely terrible. I got Korean sauce, original and seaweed, and they were all terrible at different levels. If I can go back in time and choose again, I'll choose to eat raw chicken, rather than eating this.
