The hope mission is giving out free food and free clothing and free shelter to anyone and everyone that is in need of they’re services and not only do they help everyone that comes to them they accommodate those in need of treatment for addictions and also church. They are absolutely amazing and anyone that complains about they’re services has obviously either been banned for disrespecting, abusing staff or assaulting staff. The hope mission is a great place and they help thousands of people every year!
Stealing poor homeless people's belonging on a consistent bases..why are the issues allowed to work or steak from the poor.on camera ..devious treacherous &Vindictive outfit using religion to exploit the poor ..shame on you.
Not a pleasant experience for quite alot of ppl over the holidays I found out. I find this news quite heartbreaking. The staff were very challenging towards the broken spirited homeless individuals I spoke with. I wish the evening staff would be more compassionate and patient in an environment like this. People come to sleep, shower, eat, etc. And get looked down upon on their arrival to the hope mission. Not something I expected to hear and witness here at the hope mission. .... MLA should really look into these issues the evening staff have against a good portion of the homeless.
Rain or shine, Hope Mission & it's staff and volunteers are there for the people . And it starts by ensuring no one ever has to hungry. Shalom
My mind is blown by what it takes to keep this place running as smooth as it does. The staff do all they can with what they have and their integrity and kindness shows. I heard the chef had been there for over 20 years and the chili and the Easter stuffing was the best I've ever tasted. It's amazing what they do for the people of our city. Thank you for your compassion and your grace. I look up to and admire everyone that works there.
I came back to Canada after 6 months. I had my own jacket inside, and holding my mask exemption card that had a blue string on it. The bright lights reflected the blue string of my jacket, which they are a lot of lighter in the store from the last time I was there. I went back to the store after my drs appointment across the street. I have been a loyal customer for years. I got accused of stealing in the store that’s not even true. I had to go back to my drs appointment and throw up in the bathroom. I am so upset and Eliminated that I was crying. Not once the own me apology after shopping and buying there because I love buying things.
Hi Jamie how are you beautiful people I know you guys seem to be very far! Am a single women I have been on the streets since 1973 I have not yet fought a suitable place. where could I found good locations I was thinking about traveling to Canada right here because Am hearing that they have wonderful resources the area is a great environmental. you are able to meet nice great people to be able to work with you that will address you and be able to direct you where you need to go. Jamie I always wanted to come here also right now Am still homeless but trying to get off my feet stranded in different societies and pretty much locations too. where could I found a decent place I heard about the the hope mission also so maybe I will go there if its possible and check it out.
This is the worst shelter I have ever seen. Was down on our luck and needed a place to stay but would have been better staying outside. They dont give you much for a mat so you are basically sleeping on hard concrete. In the 5 days I was there I was unable to shower due to it not being available. Wanted to get out and find work but had to fight with them to hold our stuff so we could go job hunting. The staff are not helpful at all and they have no resources or people to talk to in order to help get on your feet. Everyone there is treated the same and they assume everyone is on drugs. If we had of stayed there we probably would be homeless for a very long time.
The people who work here are mostly african and I find they have a poor attitude towards the Natives and people in general. They clearly do not understand Canadian history and it shows in their lack of compassion but it's not just them a few of the other people are complete jerks. Sometimes there are no blankets and the guy working the door leaves the door wide open so every time they let someone in all the people lying down half to freeze because of the winter cold blowing right on their blanket less bodies. I have been to multiple shelters across this continent and none are as clearly racist towards natives than these people at this shelter. I feel like the staff here thinks the worst of all of us. In all fairness though, Native people tend to be racist towards blacks as well.
If you like long lineups, pushy unhelpful staff, garlic bread that can be used as a weapon, wilted salad, and being quickly ushered out the door in to the cold, you've found a great place. If you're in need of a good meal, some clean clothes, a place to stay warm for a few hours and maybe even catch a hockey game, or movie, grab a free book not just a new testament bible either, a conversation with understanding staff, and occasionally an outreach worker or legal aid volunteer, or a free haircut, GO TO THE MUSTARD SEED. Mustard Seed Society, 10635 96 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5H 2J4
