Solid little corner restaurant. A bit of a letdown for the first time, but not a horrible experience…cont below The main complaint is that the broth for the noodle soup dishes we had were very bland—it was like your typical water + flavoring, not actually made with some heavy soup base/broth. Outside of that, everything else was lovely. Noodles and ingredients were tasty. The roasted duck appetizer was great. Will be back to try some of their other dishes sometime.
They only serve dimsum on the weekends during lunch. Wished they served it everyday during lunch! The beef egg noodles were so yummy and the meat proportion was generation! The chicken feet is chewy, soft and flavorful! Can’t wait to go back to try out their large menu list Con: Parking can be difficult
Unassuming corner restaurant, nice looking on the inside, not a ton of atmosphere but incredible food. High price but absolutely worth it, Authentic, amazing food. Prepare to have some great leftovers for tomorrows lunch too because the portions are very generous! I'd give this place a 6 out of 5 if I could. Vegetarian options: A lot of good veggie options! Kid-friendliness: Definitely kid friendly. Don't go out of their way to be so but nothing non kid friendly there at all. Although it does get very busy and noisy. Parking: Parking lot right near the restaurant that is separated into reserved sections based on where you're going, this place being one of them. A little inconvenient but I doubt anyone actually cares to tow someone for parking in the Raising Cane's section but actually going here.
I would say, expensive and mediocre. Not too bad though. So; detail wise, the potstickers / dumplings were most likely frozen, the meat and filling was eh, and while crispy it was slightly soggy at the same time. Then, I got the Mongolian shrimp which was also just average. The veggies were cooked well, shrimp doneness was good, but there were not deveined. This meant there was still the intestinal track which was not very appetizing. Also, I subbed fried rice for an extra $2 and the fried rice was pitiful- see picture. It was just kind of old oily rice with a couple strands of egg in it. Disappointed. Service was wonderful though! Fast + friendly workers
Extremely authentic Chinese cuisine! Just look at my pictures for proof. You must try the restaurant when you’re in the area because you won’t be disappointed.
We ordered take out and the food was mediocre. We had shrimp and mushroom, sizzling beef, Hainanese chicken and roast duck. The flavors for the shrimp/mushroom and Hainanese chicken were bland I've had Hainanese chicken in Singapore and expected it to taste similar. The sizzling beef was chewy but it was tasty enough. The roast duck was the savior of our meal. It was crispy and flavorful and the side of rice compliments it well. As others mentioned, it's best to dine in. Maybe our experience would have been different.
Great place for a big, shared meal with friends. Huge menu has a ton of variety and I was impressed with the food quality. Portions are very very large so it is easy to over order. The place was recently remodeled and I found the interior charmingly sunny and clean. Our group loved the Hong Kong style noodles with brisket, the melon smoothie and the salt and pepper squid.
Service was fast and efficient! Food is not all that bad either. Some items on the menu we ordered were not available however beef short ribs, smoothies.
When I was attending the University of Minnesota, my friends and I would eat here at least once a month. The portion sizes are generous and there’s a wide variety of tasty Chinese food. Recently, the food hasn’t been as good as it used to be, but it’s still worth the trip.Dine in: YesOutdoor seating: NoTakeout: Yes
When Village Wok on the East Bank of the U of M closed due to light rail construction, we started going to this place. When the pandemic came around, we stopped going there because they closed for a long time, and when they reopened, whenever we called, they said they only did take out. Too far to drive just for take-out! We finally returned last night to dine in, and the original owners were gone. It just wasn't the same. Garish bright walls and super bright lighting. The food was good, and portions decent. However, I think the new owners are really heavy on the MSG because my face got tingly, and when it was time for me to go to bed, I had a raging headache! Peking Garden left the East Bank due to the building of the new stadium some years back, so I guess it's time to venture outside of the U of M to find a new favorite Cantonese restaurant . . .
