Some reviews say it's the best HK Cafe but that is quite subjective. I have dined in a few times and tried most of their dishes and the taste is alright. Can't say it's "authentic" since I haven't been back to Hong Kong for over 15 years, but it tastes like any other HK Cafe locally. Price wise it's quite good as it is on the lower side of the HK Cafe spectrum. Most of the dishes are decent if you eat it at the store. The service is decent, when they feel like it. There's times I were greeted with smiles and times when I was frown upon. One time I was there and was speaking English, I guessed the waitress thought I didn't understand Cantonese, but she was telling another waitress to give us the bill because we were there over 90 mins, but I already asked another waitress for the bill and was waiting for it. The restaurant was only 30% full at that time. Not sure why she wanted us out. Their milk tea is alright, sometimes too much tea, sometimes too much milk. Taste fluctuates more than my mother's mood. Most dishes are alright but don't get their congee. Their congee is more watered down than the drinks I used to get at the clubs. Take out is definitely a 1-2 stars and dine in is 3 stars.
I really wanted to like this place, but where to start?? I placed an order for pick up. The lady handed it to me all wrapped in a plastic bag. The order contained a hot milk tea, with a lid with a hole, and of course it spilled EVERYWHERE. How could they place it in the same bag without warning? Ruined all the other dishes, as the togo containers had steam holes and everything tasted like milk tea, including my car carpet. To add insult to injury, they forgot the Garlic Toast in the order. Then I took a bite of my Borsht soup and there was a hair in it. Disappointing experience to say the least.
Another great HK breakfast spot. They have a great selection. Also a quiet and spacious interior. Pictured: Satay beef, HK style breakfast, ovaltine, and yin yang coffee milk tea mix and french toast very good
A local HK Cafe style restaurant. It is located in a shopping plaza so parking should not be too troublesome. Very standard cafe menu with quite a selection for choosing. I had a typical 3 items combo on a hot plate, so the food will stay warm for longer since I eat slow. I'm glad that this is one of the few places that make acceptable HK drinks.
A busy Hong Kong restaurant that serves wayyy more than just Hong Kong food. They have many cuisines on their menu, including Russian, Malaysian, and Italian, which is pretty neat to see. I highly recommend their seafood pineapple fried rice :Food: 5/5
Tucked away in the corner of an older strip mall it’s easy to miss this place. I live in the neighbourhood and I have only recently discovered it. Easy to miss but once you enter it is quite spacious and very clean. Service is typical no fuss HK diner quick and the food was came fast and hot.Food: 4/5
Went this morning and had the chicken steak with waffle. Quite a lot of chicken but waffle was small cold hard. Friends had noodles, dumplings, fish. Good fish but paper thin. Dumplings tastyFood: 3/5
We’re SF Bay Area natives, and we’re a little spoiled by the foodie culture in San Francisco. So far we’ve been impressed with all the delicious food we’ve found here in Vancouver. Hong Kong Flavor Restaurant is like happily and unexpectedly stumbling upon a little diamond. All of this yumminess could have been packaged up in a high-end Chinese restaurant and instead, we get it in a cozy low key cafe. We indexed high on the seafood, which greatly exceeded our expectations. I liked the creativity in the Hainan chicken with truffle oil so if you like truffle-y things, it’s worth checking out. If you’re looking for a quick, hearty meal, the spaghetti is next-level delicious. My kids generally don’t like Chinese food and they said “this is a 10 out of 10!”
Authentic Hong Kong taste and style. So may be a bit salty. Milk tea is good. Reasonable price. Helpful staff.
Pics look good but the taste was meh, everything was pretty bland and plain, I guess it’s good that they didn’t use much MSG but there’s no flavour then. Our family’s favourite pan fried beef with flat noodles was decent, not the best but definitely didn’t have enough of the “beef” flavour that we’re used to. The Ham and Pineapple cream sauce rice was veryyyy bland, the cream sauce barely had any “cream” flavour, the rice was not fully soft, still kind of chewy. And finally my order: Carbonara Pasta, the carbonara was way too plain, I don’t think it’s authentic sing this is HK style so ofc, the bacon was pretty little the cheese on top was plain as well, literally everything was bland and worse of all, the spaghetti wasn’t fully aldente. Overall, very decent but for my taste buds I don’t think I’ll come back unless my family says to.
