They are really slow. I ordered the pad Thai and had to wait for them to boil the noodles before frying. Also, all their offals are stored in separate bins because I think they were all cooked separately. So even the beef Offal noodle took a long time to assemble since they had to go into each bin. But the food is really good. The Pad Thai noodles had a nice bounce since they were boiled fresh. Each type of offal had the perfect cook. Their hot sauce is also a homemade garlic concoction. This place isn’t “fast food”, but if you order ahead, it is definitely good food.
I originally wanted to try a nearby competitor but was dissuaded by their long line. Super glad I gave HK Special Kitchen a shot instead because I was served the biggest, steaming hot bowl of laksa that can easily feed two people! It came with a generous amount of toppings including chicken, fish ball, egg, and tofu puff the best topping bc it sopped up all the soup. The gentleman at the counter may seem a little rough around the edges but he’s actually super kind. Although it took a while for my order to be made, I can tell that the auntie really puts her heart into it and is meticulous with what she’s serving.
The Hoi Nan chicken rice was pretty, all boneless & tender.Food: 4/5
We tried out this food court restaurant for the first time tonight based on the positive reviews. I only post reviews if the restaurant is really good or really bad. Their food quality, portion, and price way surpassed my expectations. Just like what the other reviewers said, their food is deeeeeelicious! Oyster omelette - just excellent. Hand pulled hoinan chicken - chicken was moist, not over-seasoned, but I found the rice to be just average. I think I got accustomed to the oily rice from other restaurants. Pad thai - not your typical pad thai, made with glass noodles, very flavourful. Baked Portuguese chicken with rice - very authentic and tasty, chicken was very moist. HK style fake shark fin soup - the soup texture was too thick but the flavour is right. I would have preferred the meat to be shredded a bit more rather than the chunks. The pad thai and oyster omelette were my favourite tonight. You should call ahead to order. We called ahead and were told it would be ready in 30 minutes but we waited close to 45 mins. The chef and lady at the front were very friendly. Will definitely return.
Surprisingly good! Tried the House Special Handpulled Hainanese Chicken on Rice; Baked Pork Chop with Portuguese Sauce on Rice no cheese; Pan Fried Fresh Oysters Omelette on Rice & Chicken Pad Thai at this eatery inside the Dynasty Centre Food Court in Scarborough. The Hainanese chicken was very tender, the Portuguese sauce was not that spicy but was very aromatic with the pork chop. The Pad Thai was made with the glass noodles, which is not the traditional type of rice noodles that's in use with other restaurants. It had the special kind of sauce which really made it tasted like the Malaysian or Thai flavour. The oyster in the omelette was made with chopped pieces from bigger size oyster. All the food items were executed well and tasty. Wouldn't believe an eatery in the food court could have this high standard of food quality. Be aware - their food may have MSG.
This place is nice. They don’t have a two storey menu list. Instead, it’s roughly 30 items and reminds me exactly of the food stalls in Hong Kong. Seems like a husband and wife team. It’s $9 including tax for a boneless ginger chicken rice. It’s roughly two dollars more than the other stalls, but the amount chicken you get it is well worth it. The brown savoury sauce makes the rice so fragrant. Feb 2023: Price is now 9.99 + tax for the dish They provide a sweet ginger tea drink instead of soup. It is very refreshing and perfect if you’re trying to eat healthy! UPDATE Nov 2020: I paid more attention this time when I had their hand-pulled chicken and saw the husband took the rice and chicken out of the fridge and just microwave it... Not super pleased as I went their as much as I could. UPDATE Feb 2023: I had their Wonton Noodles. Pretty darn good... Upgraded to four stars. I'll just avoid rice dishes for now.
I loved their House Special Handpulled hainanese Chicken on rice and durian serradura desert. Very tasty and price reasonable.
I tried the Hainanese chicken rice house special the more expensive one and I have to say it was pretty damn tasty. Soft, moist and flavourful, it was great! It’s one of my favourite dishes in general, so finding a place that does it well is amazing! The portion was super filling and I can’t wait to go back to get it again! It’s a takeout food court stall but that doesn’t mean it can’t get 5 stars for tastiness =
They don't have hundreds of items for you to choose from because the chef lady only presents her best her best dish. I normally just order whatever she recommends for the day , so I never need to worry about what to order. She's very passionate about making food and the taste is phenomenal comparing to her competition at the same food mall. Every once in while she will surprise you with some special desserts off the menu. You may spend $2 more for the meal, but at the end of the day it's well worth it.
Best Hainanese chicken I tried in North America!
