Great neighborhood bookstore. Relaxed atmosphere great for brousing. Many author events held at the store, too.

I liked what the store had to offer, but it was ruined by the lady who checked us out at the register. Did not talk to my mom and I well, as in she was pretty rude. And she screwed up our total, so we needed to do two transactions, and then she couldn't read the screen so she told us the wrong total.

Long live the indy bookstore! Those big mega-stores may have some lower prices and a larger selection, but Hickory Stick will not overwhelm you with mind-numbing choices and unasked-for distractions, and the staff is most helpful and generous with their knowledge and time - you won't find that attention in the mega-stores. They can also order any book and get it for you in just a few days. Lots of signed books and many special events. Support this gem of a store!

Rare find to experience a genuine shop with knowledgeable staff and lots of opportunities to hear directly from well-known authors at book signings. Consider Hickory Stick The Strand in the rural hills.

Very nice small owned book shop. The staff was very friendly and the store is the epitomy of small town New England. I drove two hours just to go to this bookstore. It was worth it!
