I passed this place in September of 2016 en route to a friends house in the Catskills, and after smelling what I drove by, I reminded myself that I wouldn't let that happen again on this visit this way today. Being from South Carolina, I know what authentic BBQ is; for those of you who live in the North, this is NOT an event where you have hamburgers and hot dogs. (THAT IS A COOKOUT, not a BBQ!!!) I was impressed with this place in every way, even to the point that they had sweet tea (and it was brewed sweet tea, not some nasty imitation stuff or powder.) I had the brisket sandwich with coleslaw on top with fries. But I also had an appetizer of the hush puppies, and I'll tell you, to use SC lingo, they we're so good, you would "want to slap yo mama!". My wife had the turkey BBQ sandwich, and it tasted amazing (I asked for a bite). Kids were satisfied with their choices, too (hot dog/fries and chicken fingers/fries). Living here in the North for more than a decade and a half now, finding legit BBQ like I had back where I grew up is RARE, but Hickory is unique. They've done it, and I would dare guess that if Hickory were down South, they would be competitive there!! Without question, this is some of the best BBQ I've had outside of the South. Good prices, great service, and AMAZING food. Hickory, we'll be back for sure.

Highlights of the meal were the hush puppies dry rub ribs and the kale side. Can't wait to come back ! Specials were terrific. Going to try dessert next time

I just spent $23 for my meal which is more like 3 meals. The chicken was so soft and tender just wow. The 'half' rack ribs were spot on (go anywhere else and their full rack still wouldnt be this large). The sides were good, mac and cheese tasted home made and the rice was cooked right. All in all I drove an hour and half for this bbq and I will totally do it again in a heartbeat.

Incredible, all round! I came here at around 12 at night, but the service was still excellent, and the food was top notch! I had a delicious beef brisket sandwich, and my friend had a super tender St. Louis ribs. Mashed potatoes and spinach were excellent. Will return!
