HI-Jasper is an authentic and traditional hostel at the foot of Whistler Mountain - just 7 km from the town of Jasper.

Story

HI-Jasper is the perfect basecamp for gearing up and planning your adventures in Jasper National Park and the surrounding Wilderness Hostels. We’re just outside the town of Jasper at the foot of a mountain in a traditional hostel that used to be a ski lodge. In the summer, you can walk out the door and up to the Jasper Tramway, a gondola that takes you to the top of the mountain in minutes, or you can rent a mountain bike to get to some of the best trails in Jasper. There are almost too many activities to list, but our staff will help you sort them out.

In the winter, enjoy our bonfires under the stars after a day of skiing at nearby Marmot Basin, or settle in by our big stone fireplace in the lounge. Whether you come to Jasper to admire the views or to conquer its mountains, you’ll always have a good time at HI-Jasper.

This is the second time I've visited. The location is a bit out of the town, about 15 minutes away. It's a very secluded, homey area. You're one with nature! There is cell service and WiFi so not totally.. You can book a private room, a bed in the main areas or a bed in the female area. Bathrooms are very very clean, showers as well. Everything you need at a hostel is here! Lots of activities and services available. By far my favourite hostel.

Large dorm rooms, very accommodating and friendly staff. Clean facilities. WiFi speeds very slow.

The only reason it doesn't get a full 5 stars is really not it's fault - as a repurposed ski chalet, it's set aways from the townsite, and the rooms house so many guests that quiet is a rare commodity. But on to the good stuff! The staff are amazingly helpful, and the hostel is clean and comfortable. There's a wood fireplace that is great to curl up beside after a day of skiing. And it's still super close to town and the ski hill.

Very nice and clean hostel with friendly staff. Big kitchen with lot of tables and chairs. Very close to Jasper SkyTram. Beautiful view. Saw some bears too.

Stayed in the huge dorm room in the winter and basically had the whole place to myself. Even with people it's divided up quite well and by far the quietest night sleep I had.
