Excellent place to visit. We joined the tour of the Fishing ship. Incredibly knowledgeable guy who took you around the ship explaining in detail everything you saw. It was even more interesting when he revealed he had been a crew member so was describing and talking about everything from first hand experience. Very very interesting! The museum itself was also excellent and well worth a visit. You followed a path through the life of a fisherman from life on the ship through to down time at home. Lots of interesting exhibits and information about Grimsby and links to The Worshipful Company of Fishmongers. Well worth a visit if you have a few hours to spare.
Came here to visit the museum and was not disappointed. Purchased a combined ticket for the Ross Tiger and museum. The guide for the Ross Tiger was absolutely brilliant and gave us some personal stories from when he worked on the boat. Also good news they have secured some funding to replace the decking. Thanks Roy The museum was fantastic. Plenty of interactive things for children. It was great to see the displays and read all the stories. Amazing museum, the staff were friendly and the cafe was a warm welcome to the chilly day.
This was a great visit, the museum shows the history of Grimsby, how the fishing industry developed along with technology advances in navigation. It shows how the town developed along with shop fronts and trade. Make sure you add a tour of the fishing boat -Ross Tiger to your ticket it is well worth it. The guide, an ex-captain, was very knowledgeable and engaged with all visitors aged from 7 to 80. A very good visit well worth it.
Didn't book in advance but got there just after it opened at 10 so no problem getting on the first tour at 11.Had a great few hours wandering round. Took the tour on the trawler and the guide was brilliant, very entertaining and informative. Well worth the visit.Visited onPublic holidayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Took the grandchildren for a visit. Did the Ross Tiger Tour, we were the only four on the tour, with Bob. He was very informative and explained everything well. He also interacted with the grandchildren and made sure they understood what he was talking about. They really enjoyed it. The museum was very interesting as well and we had lunch in the cafe. Our grandson is dairy intolerant and they were very helpful and nothing was to much trouble for them. Would highly recommend a visit.
I'm really impressed! Walk through the fishing 4D experience is amazing, great museum for kids as well as adults. Definitely must see in Grimsby! BTW get a ticket for a fishing boat outside - worth money!Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Good museum with clever interactive displays telling the story of local trawler fishing, including smells! Good cafe with gluten free options, freindly helpful staff, reasonably priced.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Great little museum which has good attention to detail. Arrived just after opening and it was very quite inside. As it was Halloween they had added a few extra bits for the kids to find on thier journey which we did manage to find even with a few well hidden like the broomstick down in the fish room hatch. The kids thought they would get something for finding all the items. Like a sweet or certificate or something. We managed to get around the museum in 90mins with the kids playing with many of the items placed around. A family ticket for £18 which we found was good value for the visit. Only suggestion what could make the museum better is slightly more interactive activities for the kids unfortunatly alot of the dress up stuff seamed to be missing when we visited
It was all a Wonderful experience and Robert Formby is an awesome guide on the Ross Tiger
Absolutely superb, brilliant morning out. Very reasonably priced, very friendly staff, excellent museum, gift shop and cafe. Kids had a fantastic time as did I, having been as a kid, it was a real trip down memory lane. The Ross Tiger is currently closed for maintenance but this is reflected in the entry price. Should be re-opened for Feb half term. We will definitely be making a return visit
