The Society was founded to:
1. To promote, encourage and enter into research on the history of Hastings County.
2. To provide information and education services on the history of Hastings to its citizens, and particularly its students.
3. To maintain archives for the deposit of historically significant documents.
4. To encourage the preservation, use, maintenance and enjoyment of all historically significant objects and buildings in Hastings County.
5. And to promote activities necessary for the preservation of the culture of the people of Hastings County.
