Well we stayed here and it was a good time! The campsites aren’t huge but big enough. Bathrooms where well kept and cleaned and they had security out at night ensuring rules followed. Staff are super friendly and we’re great. Gorgeous place and wildlife is amazing. Will be going again.
Where do I begin? The overcrowded sites? The itzy bitzy sites? The lack of accessibility for seniors and handicap? Last year we were given a tiny site right beside the laundromat and the "laundry" smell and dampness was horrible. We had to request the laundry door on our side of the building be closed because our tipout came less than a foot away from the building. We are here again now with two trailers because we had a chance to book earlier and pick a site. We are okay but my in-laws can't open the awning on their trailer because it will hit the trailer beside them. I feel sorry for anybody who is new and booking a water/hydro site, pay the same price as everybody else and are stuck with one of the many sites that are literally right beside the road. These sites are not big enough to open a tip out without having your door on the road I will post a few pictures of these sites if possible. The row of tents are on individual sites.
Stayed for 1 week in July where it rained twice and my site was flooded. The park staff are fully aware of these conditions but I'm told their hands are tied by the city who of Owen Sound who oversee the park. If they do not carry out repairs soon then everyone should be aware and definately camp somewhere else or you will end up soaked. Also the wifi is super slow and only works 1-2 hours per day. I would have left but they won't issue a refund even if your site is soaked.
So fun. Sites aren't private, but the park is clean, people are friendly. Lots of walking trails, Sydenham River goes through and you can rent paddle boats and canoes. Very nice outdoor pool. Bird observatory. Fantastic playground and restaurant.
Harrison park is always a great place to bring the kid's, they have a few different playgrounds, mini putt, trails to hike and enjoy. Along with a range of wild birds you can see as well feed. There is also the restaurant in the middle of the park where you can grab a bite to eat. The staff are friendly and helpful with any questions you may have.
My Friend and I went out to treat ourselves to dinner out. We really enjoyed our dinner. I had the cheese burger...Yummy, and she had the fish and coleslaw, and fries. So nice to have a decent size fish inside the batter. We felt safe with how the restaurant was set up. Enough spacing between tables, and I noticed good cleaning practices too. This was indeed a treat for two hard working ladies. Glad we chose Harrison Park.
I went to Harrison Park on my motorcycle and wanted a tent site and did not require any hydro . The lady in the booth at the entrance charged me a backpackers fee of $1825?with taxand I was happy with that. The next day I decided to stay again and went to pay up A new younger lady was working the booth and charged me $56 dollars for the same spot, She explained too me that "the other lady only works on the weekend and was just doing me a favor charging me the$18 but today's different..
Enjoyed a nice walk through the park .. before any snow .. will have to come back in the evening to see the Festival of Northern Lights .. Owen Sound does an amazing display of lights/themes .. just started on Nov. 20, 2021!! Definitely worth the drive .. you will not be disappointed!!
Like to go every year for a few nights or a week just to get away.... Usually sites available to book unlike provincial parks a few months in advance . Little stream is great for kids. Sites aren't huge and not overly private, but kids enjoy themselves and it's pretty quiet rustling stream sound is great Compared to provincial park like balsam, bass lake, Pinery or point farms, it's a 2/5...but still a good spot and we have to compare apples to apples here. It's clean, nice trees and close to anything you would need as it's small a campground and basically in town but not in town.....
Really nice little campground! Not the most private but still a very nice little place to spend a weekend, will return for sure!
