When Canteen closed in Edmonton, I lost one of our most favorite brunch spots in the city. Alas, I was thrilled to find out that the same folks behind Canteen had opened up Happy and Olive in the beautiful area of Crestwood. The space is gorgeous. They have revamped an older cafe spot and now it has lots of natural light, clean lines and beautiful interior furnishings. The service has been so unbelievable. We keep getting the same server and she is so helpful and so wonderfully hilarious. And the food...they have a base set of brunch items that are amazing! All of the food items are super and the presentation is great. All around, 5 stars! 5 x
My family and I recently went to Happy & Olive and it was an amazing experience! The food was delicious and the service was top-notch. I highly recommend trying out their chickpea fries, and gnocchi, it was out of this world. Plus, the atmosphere was so cozy and welcoming. Can't wait to come back!Food: 5/5
Was recommended I check out Happy and Olive. And so we chose to have a client meeting there. Being gluten free, I chose their grilled cheese and fries and boy I was NOT disappointed!! DE-LISH!!! I also ordered a black coffee free refills and that was also really good! Service was great. Atmosphere was warm and welcoming! Will definitely be back! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
Great local place for breakfast. The only downside is the breakfast burritos are premade with pork chorizo. Too bad they don't offer ones with turkey chorizo or other alternative for those of us who don't eat pigs.Food: 4/5
We were really excited to try this place as we had loved canteen. We were a little underwhelmed with the food, it was good but probably a one and done for us. Maybe it was a one off as we were the last table to walk in.Food: 3/5
Went here with a couple of friends Friday night & it did not disappoint in the least. We decided to share several dishes, so we could test out the menu. Everything was phenomenal. I’m not great at remembering to take photos of my food, but we had the saganaki, shiitake crab cakes, the Korean schnitzel, smoked salmon latke, gnocchi & the Vada Pav sliders with fries. I we loved every dish. The decor is lovely, they did such a good job in the old Blackbird Cafe. It’s warm and cozy and modern with clean lines. Brilliantly appointed. Highly recommend this new neighbourhood gem. Oh, the martinis were fantastic too!
I hadn't heard of Happy and Olive prior to this week, when a good friend suggested we go there after work. It's excellent. The food is unique, prepared very well and presented beautifully. The atmosphere is very inviting. The dining experience is more on the quiet side. You can easily carry on a conversation without straining to hear over kitchen noise, music or other diners. The staff were all very welcoming in a way I've never experienced before. I can't recommend it strongly enough.
We checked this out for lunch. We were greeted at the door and although we had no reservation they found us a table. Loved the spirits selection and the menu has something for everyone. I would suggest to make a reservation to avoid disappointment.Food: 5/5
Went for brunch with high hopes and, unfortunately, it's likely a one and done for me. The food was good, not great. The prices honestly were outrageous based not only what is being served here but even more so when you compare to other superior restaurants who have lower prices. The service was ok but dries up once your food comes out. The waitress was asked about serving sizes and responded with "if it's not enough, you can just order more". Interesting suggestion when mains are $21-26 which is on the high end for brunch and when a $9 appetizer nets you 19 tater tots. I really like what they did with the interior compared to the old cafe but at the end of the day it was a very underwhelming experience.
What a delight to have this gem in our part of town! They have knocked it out of the park with the menu and the perfectly executed dishes. Thank you Happy and Olive, welcome to the neighbourhood!Food: 5/5
